after using an old iPod in the armrest for a while, i thought i'd try my phone with Bluetooth. i set up the "Viper4Android FX" app that came with the ROM i put on my rooted phone ....
WOW! the V4A app totally fixes the "muffled with a blanket" audio from the Bose system. nice and crisp, warmer, fuller mids, tighter bass.
there's nothing wrong with the Bose speakers, its the amp processing that RUINS the sound.
now i have to see if i can get the V4A app on an old smartphone so i can just dedicate that to music and leave it in the armrest ....
Can you post your profile for Viper4A? I've used it before on my Note II and I didn't notice much on my headphones. Also, have you tried a built-in EQ attached to Spotify, Google music, etc?

i just tried it for the first time yesterday. i started with the "Rock" EQ setting, and bumped up the lower mids a little. i will say it woke up the Bose system in a very noticeable way. the Bose amp EQ just muffles everything, and V4A corrects that. i'll still be messing with it for a while - there's a lot of settings. the Bose speakers can actually sound good.
this morning, i dragged out my old Droid Bionic (which was serving duty as a computer desk clock ) and downloaded V4A to it. apparently, the link above is a much newer version with more features. interested to try the "tube" effect on the newer version to see how it warms up the sound.
never tried the other stuff you mentioned because i've just been using an iPod since i got the car.
really liking the V4A - i don't think i'll be replacing the Bose amp now like i intended to in the spring. you can even kick the gain up so the level isn't so low, and it matches the radio, etc. i had to crank the headunit volume before when using the Bluetooth audio.
