I highly recommend Tollboothwilley's aluminum splash shield which has an oil plug/filter door. Saves you so much time and much more durable than the factory plastic splash guard.

Splash Guard
I had a G35 Journey 2005 (sold) and currently I have a 2013 G37 Journey and both did not have the trap door
I got the black aluminum guard from Tollboothwilley and that thing it looks great and works great. Changing the oil and oil filter it is a breeze. Everything is bolt on the same place with the same hardware or you have the option to buy new hardware from them if the current one are not good.
This is my next purchase for my G37 because I sold the G35 with the splash guard on.

I have a 6MT, and no oil-filter flap in the splash guard. I have to remove the whole thing. It is a PITA, I won't lie. This topic comes up from time to time... some have the flap, some don't. It's odd.
My advice is to establish a new SOP for each time you change the oil: soak the bolts in penetrating oil while the cover is off. I've done that on my last two oil changes, because I observed they were starting to get corroded and difficult to thread/unthread.

Hi All,
Anyone have issues with the oil door flap bolts? I broke both them off. Any chance Infiniti can repair this? Do they sell replacement bolts at the dealer?
What a garbage design, I think 2 snap clips in the plastic that you could remove without a tool would've been easier..I can't imagine if I had to pull the entire splash guard underneath off. Would be a PITA.
Plus this trap door drips oil everywhere and gets in the way. Left a few nice spots on the garage floor.
Thanks for help
Jason

I used my cordless drill with an adapter for a 10mm socket and it only took less than 2 min to remove all the bolts
I've gotten lazy with my current 2012 and just let the dealer do the oil changes now with the free car wash, snacks, watch TV, or on my IPad with their free WiFi.

I have the flap on my '14 Q60. Nice for filter access, but I've still not found a way to have the filter oil drain without making one big mess. I remove the entire panel...

Between purchasing the oil and filter, the weather limitations and not wanting to do it any longer, for $48.00 I'd rather let the dealer do it and wash and vacuum my car.
I can surf the web with their free WiFi, watch TV, enjoy a snack, and not have to get my hands dirty.

Telcoman, you have that thing a mile in the air! haha. I like your shower curtain idea. I use a 0 clearance creeper and oil absorb in one...a big piece of cardboard.
I use Amsoil so I can schedule my changes in nice weather :-)
Anywho, back on topic. I lost my door to fenderbergs on i69 a month ago so I went out and got a stainless piano hinge and a thick piece of steel (Lowes and Home depot didn't have thick aluminum that would stand up to ice chunks) and made myself a nice replacement. I did paint paint and undercoat the steel.

For anyone concerned about their rusting bolts on the underside shroud... Looking at the Z-Speed website, it seems they're selling a 20-pack of replacement bolts for $12+.

Not sure if should reply to this thread or create a new one. But I did the oil change on my 011 g37x and the head of the bolt broke off so currelty they are attached with zip ties to the frame. Is there an easy way to remove the rest of the bolt from the car ?
