Even without the r-spec the V8 genesis sedan is over $50k.

Fair point, Tony, looking at the cost between those cars.

And on paper between the two, I'd rather have yours. So there's that.

I like the SS, but I don't see it as enough of an upgrade over my G37S to drop $45K on it.
Great points! Except for the acceleration comment. The 6MT weighs significantly less and I don't believe the SS is any quicker. The SS weighs 360 more. That's like driving around with two adult passengers. No doubt that SS sounds better though.

The SS is 4.5 0-60, and 12.9 in the quarter. That's definitely faster than a stock G.

I think we are splitting hairs and this was the heavier 7AT:
2009 Infiniti G37 S - Quick Test - Motor Trend

Half a second is no where close to splitting hairs.

It's definitely got us 0-60 but we are much closer in the 1/4th as the sedan has been clocked as low as 13.1 (but I've also seen 12.8 for the SS). However, what do we expect from a 2015 car with a big ol v8? Hopefully Infiniti gets their head out of the sand and puts 400 hp in the q50 next year (along with a proper manual).

Well I would be happy to line up and give it a go with my car. I think it would come down to the launch as it often does. I have beaten Dodge Chargers with the Hemi and hung with the SRT8 Charger as well. They are big cars with big motors. Chevy SS is in the same boat as those.

SS' s are trapping 110+

We might hang 0-60, but they are going to walk away as speeds increase.

The Genesis is a sweet looker, nicer than the SS. But the engine and driving dynamics have no soul. Exhaust is muted. Has higher stock HP but they ruin it with the lack of torque.

Neat thing is you don't pay the gas guzzler tax with the manual. Car ends up cheaper by quite a bit. You r right on the speed of the MT, no difference. And many on the SS forums say the manual isn't all that great in the SS.

From: Framingham Ma,
I always wonder how the motor trend cars are always faster the ours. :/ My bolted and tuned 09 G37X, has the same 1/4 times and MPH traps.

Stock WHP was 265, now is 302 IDK.

The SS will walk a stock G hard, I run from my wife's Q50 and the SS will walk away on me.

This is just a guess but... they don't personally own the cars they test so they can wind them out as far as they want and not have to worry about breaking anything. Me... Haven't even smoked the tires yet. Still less than 3k miles.

Engine bay just about done. I have an Elite Engineering Catch Can and an oil/air separator coming as well.

That's pretty cool, nice looking bay. Pop-charger under glass... awesome.

Nice ride for sure.

I had kicked around the idea of getting one before I got my Z06.

What all do you have done to it? I have an EE catch can on mine as well, good investment.
