BYE, bye G37, Hello SS
Nice points, but you're also comparing the SS to the non-performance version of the G37--your all season tire equipped Journey.
The S with the sport suspension, fixed piston brakes, and fast ratio steering would be a better comparison, although the SS would undoubtedly stomp it in a straight line.
I like the SS, but I don't see it as enough of an upgrade over my G37S to drop $45K on it.

The SS is 4.5 0-60, and 12.9 in the quarter. That's definitely faster than a stock G.

I think we are splitting hairs and this was the heavier 7AT:

It's definitely got us 0-60 but we are much closer in the 1/4th as the sedan has been clocked as low as 13.1 (but I've also seen 12.8 for the SS). However, what do we expect from a 2015 car with a big ol v8?
Hopefully Infiniti gets their head out of the sand and puts 400 hp in the q50 next year (along with a proper manual).
Half a second is no where close to splitting hairs.

The Genesis is a sweet looker, nicer than the SS. But the engine and driving dynamics have no soul. Exhaust is muted. Has higher stock HP but they ruin it with the lack of torque.
Neat thing is you don't pay the gas guzzler tax with the manual. Car ends up cheaper by quite a bit. You r right on the speed of the MT, no difference. And many on the SS forums say the manual isn't all that great in the SS.
I always wonder how the motor trend cars are always faster the ours. :/ My bolted and tuned 09 G37X, has the same 1/4 times and MPH traps.
Stock WHP was 265, now is 302 IDK.
The SS will walk a stock G hard, I run from my wife's Q50 and the SS will walk away on me.

This is just a guess but... they don't personally own the cars they test so they can wind them out as far as they want and not have to worry about breaking anything. Me... Haven't even smoked the tires yet. Still less than 3k miles.
