The Chevy SS vs G8 GXP. That's the race/ comparison review I wanna see.

I like both, I've driven both (6mt) back to back and a 6mt g37 sedan when I was still trying to narrow down the search for my next car (at the time I was daily driving an 06 M5 SMG)

The SS felt like a big car but once you sit in, it does not feel that big. I noticed it was more of a cruiser than a die car muscle car. It's not aggressive for boasting that V8 but it still has torque which at the time I miss cuz m5 is like a g37 it has no torque until you get the Rpms up. The SS was a nice car just not for me it was missing character and reminded me of a comment my coworker once said: what if Chevy puts a v8 in a Malibu.... The SS looks like a Malibu to me. Plus it was out of my price range.

The G8 GXP was exactly the opposite of the SS. It looked and felt big, it was stiff and seemed more aggressive than even my M5. Driving seems like it's stuck in beast mode in any gear and any type of driving. It was a fun car but in reality you can't daily drive it like the SS or the G37s it just felt like trying to cage a wild animal and that animal is vicious ****

The g felt like the happy middle. Not too much of something and too little of another it wasn't too smooth like the SS nor too stiff like the gxp. Down side to driving it after the two V8's is u notice the lack of torque and how small it is inside. But I must say it was the second most fun car I've drove ever, the first was the gxp lol it really is fun driving it.

Both would benefit with more fun from a 6MT. Duh.

"[the Q50] is almost a little too track-focused in some ways" LOL, no, that was a dumb comment.

"[the Q50] has very intrusive traction control". Well, he's not wrong about that.

Pretty lame drag race. It's like racing down someone's driveway.

Agreed these 2 crack me up

I told the Camaro engineers and designer to their faces that they are incompetent and have failed to design a great coupe, but have delivered a great Camaro.
If you are looking for a RWD+Stick sports coupe, you just can't beat the Camaro 1SS......especially for the money......but it still sucks as a daily driver due to the lack of visibility and room.

Hi - Im the OP and still a G37 owner. I too spent sometime in the new Camaro and came away less impressed than I was with the new Mustang. The new Camaro uses cheaper interior materials than I have in my SS. The Camaro still doesn't work for me either. I have no problem with a coupe or the back seat. I just didn't see me in it long term.

In six months there will be thousands on the road. My SS will still be rare. Only about 5900 on the road in the US right now.

The only people who care about rarity is the people who buy them (and sometimes even that is overstated). My G sedan was about as rare as you can get with the manual but still was looked at as a regular ol sedan (not that there is anything wrong with that). The SS is a sweet car no doubt but you won't catch much people breaking their neck saying "hey look, an SS"!. The new camaro will undoubtedly be flooded across the streets of USA in no time but that's because it's a great car. In the end it comes down to what you prefer driving and that ultimately shouldn't be decided on what people's opinions are.

Signed,

Camaro owner

With the Holden badges, and even a bit before I converted them, people were breaking their necks to say "what the heck was that?"

That suits me fine. I liked the new Camaro, but not enough to trade in my SS.

And yes, it does smack a bit of the Malibu but a car guy would and typically does know it's not a Malibu. They're just not sure what it is typically.

I'm also starting to see the Caprice PPV's out in the public market. They are closer to the old G8 than the SS is. Cops are starting to role out of them and auctioning them to the public. They come with a 6.0 I believe and RWD.

Because the LS3's are known to run a bit dirty, I added an Elite Engineering Catch can along with a EE air/oil separator.

Lastly, because I hate vibrations, I had them extend the tunnel plate with four washers away from the x pipe. It worked for clearance but still rattled. This is what I started with:

Decided to add a Granatelli G Load Tunnel Brace. Comes with clearance built in. This is the end result.

This is what is look like off the car. I was surprised how much it helped as compared the the stock aluminum plate. Car is more solid.

Cheers.

It does sound great. A little loud at startup but it's mellow most of the time. I still think a G37 can stay with it for about a eighth of a mile or more in a quarter mile run.
