footwell noise

hey all- i have a 2011 g37s sedan auto and lately i keep hearing a creaking type sound when releasing the brakes.i had heard it before, but thought it was just a am type noise, but now i hear it at intermittent times throughout the day. i thought it maybe something with the brake pedal, so i have pumped that a few times when i hear it and it doesn't seem to increase the sound any, it just happens. so for example, backing out of garage- brakes squeak...stop, place in drive and as i am moving foot to accelerate, i hear this sound like a hinge releasing or stretching, but not high pitched, just a medium sound growl type. i checked the springs/shocks and all looks ok. sounds definitely coming from driver footwell area and it has something to do with brakes i'm thinking, but poking around down there and don't see anything loose... any ideas?

When you say footwell, are you saying this noise is coming from INSIDE the car?

Can you confirm (with help from a friend perhaps) if the sound is coming from inside or outside the car?

If inside, and your windows are rolled up, your friend should not hear anything when you do. If outside, your friend should hear it louder than you do.

^^^, yep tried that the first few times i heard it, but it wasn't heard outside and i have listened also with windows down and it definitely comes from inside.

back when i had a camcorder with vhs(way back), during playback ,when you are zooming out/in, there would be a sound that really is similar to this one, this one is just louder. anyway, hard to describe, but not metallic. i dont think its serious, as nothing is loose of falling or beeping or lighting up on dash , so will have it checked out on my next oil change at dealer, though as it is sporadic, it most likely won't happen there.... anyway thanks for ideas, will keep trying to figure out.

I originally thought that my 11 also had a squeak with the brake pedal.

Turns out that it was the gas pedal. There is a TSB for it.... The dealer took care of it and it never returned since.
