USB reading problem 2010 G37x

I recently bought a 2010 G37x and I'm trying to connect a USB stick. When I plug it in, it says "Reading USB Drive" indefinitely. I left it like that for about 20 minutes and no change. Just curious if anyone knows how to solve this problem! The drive is formatted in FAT32.

Try reinserting it.
Try a different USB drive

Ok I had a lot of large data files on this USB stick. I removed them and left only the audio files, and it works now. Somewhat strange but oh well...

Glad you found the problem.
They are cheap enough now.
I have separate USB's for music and data

I currently use an iPod for my music but wanted to ask... Is the media experience the same using the usb? will songs shuffle around rather go in order and stuff?

I like the iPod but i hate going through iTunes. Rather just drag and drop music files into the flash drive and plug it in.

I found that my '11 wouldn't read anything larger than 8 GB. Nothing but music on the sticks. FAT32 is default for USB sticks.
