Goodluck.
I was actually going to get it professionally done at a local place that does it. I don't think I would want to attempt it myself as I have no experience. And that does look pretty nice!

Oh…well in that case, weigh the pros/cons of each.

Plasti dip costs less but quality is debatable, and doesn't quite last that long.
Vinyl wrapping costs more, can last up to three years, and you can get the color just right the first time before applying.

Now that you know what it would kind of look like, I can't wait to see your finished project =]

Explain how it doesn't last.

Vinyl should last a lot longer than three years as long as it's not out in the sun every day for hours on end.
BTW, looks like a nice job Synolimit.

Merely giving the kid a comparison with vinyl.

Vinyl has sun fade and offbling potential.
Plasti dip fades as well and in direct comparison to vinyl doesn't last as long nor share anywhere close to the same quality.

In the end its a trade off. To each their own. There's an application to and for everything. Whatever makes you happier persue it.

I like the idea of plastidip just because it is inexpensive and can be peele doff if you want a change. Not sure if I would ever plastidip or use vinyl...but I like the idea, I like the color. I just don't like how rocks can chip at it, like paint, but I think once it chipped it could peel...I really don't know.

If you want it, it's your car, I say do it and good luck!!

thought i would drop in my 2c.
it is a lot easier to dip a car then it is to wrap it...
and cost wise, it is cheaper with the dip.....

me personally i am going with the wrap.... i bought 3M wrap and am wrapping it my self... saving money on labor.. hehe..

Thanks to your thread I'm fairly certain I'll be wrapping mine down the road. Glad you're detailing that project so well and you know I'll be bugging you for tips when the time comes, you've been warned Are you about done w/ it now? And how much wrap did you buy (and was that enough to allow for a couple screw-ups?)

@blnewt. yes you can bug me with questions.. thats why we are on these forums.. to help fellow G owners...

I am almost done. i can only work on it on wednesdays and the past 2 wednesdays i had to come into work so didnt put any hours in on the car.

I bought 20yrs, so that i have extra for some screw ups.. i know you typically need like 15yrs for a car.
