Oops.. Neutral drop by accident

So my auto G37 () was about to down shift to second gear approaching a red-light, when my drink from my cup holder was about to spill (I don't even know how). Anyways I reacted kinda quickly and my hand ended up hitting the shift into neutral. It jumped up to about 7k revs before I noticed and put it back to drive. I know 7k revs definitely will not kill a car, but i've never done it this way. Is there anything that could have been really stressed out internally that I should be worried about? Thanks

p.s. the snow is awesome

if your car was already warmed up, I wouldn't worry about it too much. the stock rev limiter is there to protect your engine when you do dumb sh_t like that.

Did you throw it back down to drive at 7k rpms or did you wait until it dropped to lower revs before you made the switch?

I certainly wouldn't do this on purpose, but I doubt you did any serious damage. No worries

If you were at high revs while re-engaging the trans - that's never a good thing (shock load). Avoid in future obviously. That said, the drivetrain is not glass and can cope w/ a degree of abuse.
