Are Ark grip catback exhausts illegal

I tried searching for it but didn't find this type of thread for the Ark exhausts, pls redirect me if I've missed it. So I'm planning to get the Ark exhausts, but I've read in a very old post that it's illegal to install aftermarket exhausts and cops pull you over and fine you for it. Is this true? Will I get in trouble for installing the Ark exhausts.

Also, I know there are a lot of posts about this, but if you can please include which exhaust should I get ark or stillen?

I don't think any catback exhaust is illegal. The things governments regulate would be sound, and emissions. A catback doesn't really affect emissions, and probably aren't loud enough to get you a ticket. Test pipes on the other hand just might.

Laws vary greatly from place to place. It is against federal law to remove or tamper with emission control components unless they are being replaced in kind because of damage or defects. Some areas do have laws that would make it illegal to remove any working exhaust components. There are also laws in most places that make loud exhaust over a certain sound level illegal. Check your local and state ordinances.

Just as a point of reference, I live in Cali and have this exhaust on my g. I drive by cops all the time and they don't even acknowledge my existence. Cali has some very strict noise laws for exhausts as well. I'd say get it and enjoy!

oh and i used to drive this, and never got pulled over either hah!
