If he plans to just add the license and use his UpRev Tuner, then it would be $300 without the cable. Osiris standard is $500 which includes the license and the cable. So I would definitely confirm.

What is the need for the cable? Being able to tune it yourself or take it to another shop?

 

I suspect they will give you a number of data files that you could then load into the ECU with your laptop, assuming you had the cable. Otherwise, you're stuck with whatever mapping they choose to apply during the tuning process... which isn't a bad thing. They'll choose the best map from the best run. Anybody following this thread with experience in getting their car tuned at an UpRev shop?

The tuner doesn't give you any maps or data files, but rather flashes the maps of your choosing to your car. The typical maps are tuned, stock, valet, security, and fuel economy. I believe you have to purchase the UpRev tuner package ($700) to be able to flash the maps yourself, but you need to know what you are doing.

The cable only allows you to plug into the car and log data. This comes with the UpRev cipher package ($200) which has a program to log all of your data. The UpRev osiris package ($300) is an add-on to the cipher and is just the license which allows you to flash/tune your ecu via UpRev. UpRev offers 5 free e-tunes with the osiris package which is just a generic tune. They ask what mods you have and adjust the e-tune map after you send your data log file to them. They go back and forth adjusting the map after you run your car, but it is conservative since it is not on a dyno.

The advantage of the cable is to log data and see how the car is running on your own. If you buy the license only then you can still bring it to any shop for a tune since they will have their own cable (any UpRev tuner that is). $250 seems to be a fair price for the tune given it is $300 for the license. That's cool they gave a discount for the cable.

I dont plan on playing with the program myself and they are the only shop, at least authorized, that does UpRev in the country, so I guess I won't be using the cable. Plus they are very reputable and the top shop that do exotics and GTR's so I don't think I will have a problem with them.

The tuner also stated the red line would be raised to 8k. So far I haven't read that anywhere on this site.

 

I haven't read anything on the redline either. Even though it is only 600 rpms, it still has me concerned. If it is indeed safe, it could be very beneficial since i noticed my dyno line kept climbing as it approached redline.

Also about the Uprev cable, I read up on the "Torque" thread in the forums here and decided to order the Super Mini ELM327 from amazon which is a bluetooth OBD2 adapter which I can use the Torque app on my phone to monitor my engine stats - no cable and it is only $12!
