What if you follow Toxic's advice? Run some warm soapy water down the sunroof drains, and blow them out with compressed air.

Yeah I think that complex is one of the more interesting hi-rise new construction in DC (some are so ugly). I live in a 100-yr old rowhouse up the street

@rotarymike how long since your last trip to DC? If not since the 90s, pretty sure the National Mall would be the only area still recognizable.

(moved here about 5 years ago, and even in that timeframe, areas have transformed from warehouse districts or fish markets to full-blown yuppie playgrounds)

I missed this, I'll go back and check it out. But I think no matter how clean those firewall drains are, their design will allow water to spill back into the cabin?

 

We were there after Thanksgiving last year for museums (I have a preteen into that sort of thing). We stayed in National Harbor and Uber-ed into downtown - 15 minutes vs 45 for Metro. Very different from the last time we went (IIRC the Smithsonian Mall was all dug up and bare dirt).

I used to stay at the Americana in Crystal City when I was there for work conventions - metro was the ticket then (before they closed that hotel down).

I lived in Gaithersburg in the early 90s and I can't even find the road I used to live off of... the changes are dramatic even over that time span. My family is all from Eastern Shore Maryland and Delaware, and the pace of change there is crazy AF too for such a tourist-driven place.

Car related: I vote for bypassing the drains. Splice into the drain tubes at the A-pillar and T into the AC drain. On the driver's side, there's a boss in the floor to the right of the dead pedal that has a hole in the box section underneath (pull up carpet, eyeball, then look underneath the car). This isn't more than an afternoon of work, and will save you from the very expensive wading pool club forever.

It's interesting how prominent the drain topic is right now. One of my best buds recently had the same issue on his coupe, so he had our mechanic friend reengineer the whole drainage system. Add this to the common issues list I guess.

 

I'm sure they probably won't fit but I will be trying on my 17" RPF1's from my RX7 on my G37S to see if they clear the rear akebonos. Since I have them I may as well.

 

Ha. I’ve got Enkei RP01 17”s for my old FC in the attic.

 

They do not fit! Yeah you really need specifically designed 17's to clear these Akebono's.

 

With summer wheels back on my car, the TPMS light finally turned off today.

Ah gotcha, was no stranger to the MD and DE beaches back in my youth. Traffic from DC is nonsense, so I've stopped going. Need to try OBX sometime, never been.

You are looking for the wrong size. If you are tapping into the AC evaporator drain tube, this is what you need:



Now I am not saying you have to use brass- that is my preference- or buy it from Amazon (I paid ≈$5 from Lowes (maybe HD)), but the dimensions noted in the pic above are identical to what you need. The 3/8" from the sunroof drain taps into the 1/2" AC drain tube.
