For that price I would assume so. Of course the onus is on the buyer to verify proper fitment/ price/ etc.

Never understood why Morimoto never included the G in their replacement lenses offering. Only the 370z got that love.

 

I talked to the Morimoto reps at last year's ZNats - they were working on them since the Gs were getting older. Apparently most Gs are better taken care of than most Zs so there wasn't as much of a market.

 

I think G's are in about the same boat nowadays as Z's since they are getting older and more people are able to get their hands on one.
I don't even know where the crack came from, it doesn't even seem like it's from a rock chip. Didn't hit any animals, I have no idea.
So you guys think it's worth paying over $120 for just the lens cover plus whatever it is for the bulb instead of getting a full replacement headlight assembly?

 

If you have the time, skills, and- more importantly- the patience to do the repair I would. A used headlamp assembly will cost more in todays nonsensical market (≈$300+) unless you get lucky at a local pull-a-part facility. A new unit from Infiniti will run you ≈$1400. So, $120 to replace both lenses is not bad, really, plus, both lenses will match.

I'd be willing to bet it is just the bulb/ bulb socket that corroded. The ballast is external to the headlamp to begin with so I doubt moisture damaged it unless it shorted out. Still, easy/ inexpensive to replace.

 

It's easy to replace the lenses. You just need to bake the light at 200f for around 15 minutes, it pops off and you can quickly swap the new one. Wear heat resistant gloves.

I had to do this to replace the lenses on my AFS lights.

 

If anyone is looking for a set of used OEM headlights for the '07 - '09 G Sedan, I have by original set still sitting in the warehouse at my office. They've had PPF since new and were only on the car for a few years before I updated the front end, so they are still in great shape.

 

Oh wow. I would have bought them a year ago had I known. I had to get the depo ones and take the lenses off of them.

 

That's too bad. I still have a lot of parts still sitting around for the G that I need to post on here and get rid of them. I actually still have the car sitting in my office warehouse and haven't even driven it in almost 3 years...

 

Kind of a sidenote question... So I know several people in racing and if their rim gets a crack, they paint the inside of the wheel to seal it back up.
Could this in theory work with my headlight? The crack is not in-line with the headlight beam so it's not going to defract the light or anything.
I've been wanting to brighten the headlights up since they've got that haze to them anyway and if restoring the headlights then applying clearcoat will seal the crack back up, then I think that's what I'm going to do.
Other than the crack the housing itself is perfect, so I really don't want to spend any more money than I have to.

 

They paint the wheel vs welding it? I've never heard of that seems a little fishy unless there is something new these days but structurally don't see how paint will work.

I'm not sure it would have been to avoid welding, maybe just to get by, idk. It was just something a few of them told me when I had a crack in one of my wheels causing a slow leak. But I ended up being in a hit and run and the wheel got fixed due to that, so I never got to testing it.
That's besides the point though. With it being basically a free option, you don't think it's worth even trying? It looks like it's roughly $100-150 per lens once you cost in shipping and such. At that point I might as well just get aftermarket. I don't see much gain doing the lenses personally. But maybe I'm missing something...

 

Its still much cheaper than aftermarket, and the aftermarket headlights are mostly crap.
