Well I usually go for a multi-step polish and wax, mainly to address the dullness that comes with swirls and also give the paint some protection.

Although I hand wash my car (two buckets), five years on the road and outdoor parking has taken its toll. And I've yet to wax it

Trick is finding someone good, because there are plenty of "detailers" that really don't know the art of polishes, waxes, paint types, etc. which can do way more harm than good. (see autopia.org)

If anyone can recommend someone good in the DMV, please PM me!

It’s definitely worth it for a full paint correction but you need to go to someone who knows what they are doing. Here’s a pic from when I had mine done. I attached a video of the coating doing its job.

The guy who did mine just started on this Infiniti, as you can see the paint is really bad.

When are most folks doing their brakes for the first time, mileage-wise? (for maintenance purposes, not upgrade)

Would like to upgrade the rotors (mainly for looks) and probably get the calipers redone in a different color, figured I'd try to time it around the same time I'd need brake work anyways. Thanks

That would really depend on how you drive and what pads are on the car. Too many variables. Inspect them. Usually the first telltale sign you need to get work done is hard acceleration will light up the brake warning light on the dash.

Keep in mind brake fluid is probably the most affected by moisture, so doing full fluid flushes should be done every two to three years to keep best brake performance, especially if you do prolonged hard drives.

And checking pad thickness should be done every tire rotation (or 7-8k miles).

I bleed my brakes every other year.

I was down to the wear indicators for the rear NISMO pads @20K, then again @40K.

I'd expect the less aggressive OE pads to last a bit longer.

Tire rotation? What's that? Us staggered owners would like to know.

Yea, with my driving style I'm budgeting for new pads and tires annually as well.

Yeah I might get a full paint correct. Only thing is that I have a lot of chips (some were from the car wash, other were already there from the road), and the fpc wouldn't help with those help. I want to get the touch-up paint, but I want it to match well. Idk how to incorporate those two things. I'm guessing there's a way.

Happy Friday y'all.

A while back when I installed the Mishimoto intake tubes, I pulled a Lennie Small and broke off a weird looking elbow coupling that connects a hose to my driver's side intake.

I was watching a DIY vid about deleting our PCV system and realized I had broke off the elbow that connects the PCV vent to the intake. I replaced it with a regular elbow but was hesitant as the OEM elbow has a small box attached to it.

I'm not sure what purpose this box serves, but now that I can explain my situation a bit better, I wanted to get some insight. Will replacing that OEM elbow with a regular elbow cause any issues down the road?

Should be ok, those are resonance chambers, they just cancel out some extra noise from the intakes.

Man I cannot win with these damn tires. Car has been feeling weird with vague steering. Checked suspension, everything is tight. I look at the front right tire and see this:

Sedan Chat Thread-s2zqdl1.jpg

Haven't been crazy about the SPC arms as they bang my shock tower but I think this is the push I need to sell and go back to stock. I still got decent negative camber with stock arms at this height, just a little too much poke for my taste (but no clearance issues). Hopefully with less negative camber and 0 toe I can get the rest of the 7/32nds on the other 90% of the tires
