Jump starting

Might be a dumb question to some of you guys, but here goes. On the 6spd G, is it possible to dump the clutch to crank it when the battery dies?? I've had a lot of manuals over the years and it's always been possible. But my G is my first push to start. I'm asking because something drained my battery Thursday while at work. I don't like getting a jump from another vehicle (never had a problem, but always hear it can be bad on newer vehicles). Considered trying the roll down hill and dump the clutch method but didn't want to A) look stupid or B) end up in an awkward position needing the jump from someone. Anyone try it?

I don't think you can with a push button start, you can go to an automotive store and pick up a battery booster, that way there's not another vehicle involved. They cost around $100 or less usually.

That is an interesting question. I've never tried it either. I imagine the only way it would possibly work is if the battery had enough power to at least light up the "on" setting.

Had a little juice there, engine would turn over once then everything would go black. Press the button with clutch in and it would light up and turn over slowly once again. If no one knows for sure I guess I'll be the guinea pig and try it this week. I'm assuming press the button without the clutch in so it doesn't try and start, actually 2 presses i think, then roll and dump it. Should be easy enough to try.

While you're doing that, you might try pressing the button as well, hopefully completing the circuit.

I'm very interested to find out myself.

You would think after a lifetime of owning MT cars, the last five years with this G37S, and a driveway with an incline... but nope, never tried it with this car. Not even once.

Hmmm.

Hmmm.
The question is: do you perform the same gymnastics leaving your drive as you do entering it? You know: the 45* angle, timed with the right speed, and a steering wheel cut to the right/left?

Yes, I have to do the same thing on the way out as on the way in. On the way out, I typically graze the black underside lip... maybe half the time. Unlike going up, I exit the driveway at a really slow crawl. Sometimes there are people on the sidewalk or walking their dog or whatever, and they usually stop and stare when I do this. It's kind of funny. On the way in, I'll lift the inside corner on the rear... maybe half the time again. It is what it is, Sean. You get used to it.

After the initial hump, there's a continued grade to the driveway before it levels out. Point being, I can easily roll down the driveway and pop the clutch. Just never tried it before with this car. And at the moment, the driveway is covered with 4" of snow and ice.

The answer to this question is, "Yes you can."

Without depressing the clutch, press the ignition button twice to place the car into ignition mode. Roll forward, pop the clutch. Vroom.

I just did it a few minutes ago on a side street with a small incline. So strange that it took until now for me to prove that out. I think the whole push-button ignition thing threw me off so that I never even considered it. But yeah, you can easily pop the clutch to start this car... assuming you have enough juice in the battery for the electronics.

This has to be a pricing error, but i picked up one of the StopTech rotors for a whopping $33. It already shipped lol. The other one was $66.

Started focusing on my headlights today. Placed my order from LightWerkz for 2 pairs of 90mm Diode Dynamics HD switchback halos, D2S Osram CBI 5500k bulbs, and 3" STI-R clear protector lenses. Looking get my headlights modified sometime in March 2017 by LightWerkz.

Chiming in here since we are on the topic of modded headlights and tail lights. Just finished up my tails with Diode Dynamics new HD Angel Eyes/halos. Hey have built in turn signal functionality too!

They run at 20% when running, 80% for braking, and 100% for turn signal.

I'll post up a video later. They are stupid bright! Blacked out all the internals as well and completely eliminated the OEM LED array.

Very, very nice. I'm looking forward to the vid.

I'm 'leaning' toward doing something with my tails. Right now they're just tail-as-turn.
