I find myself doing this WAY too often
Hahaha, that pretty much sums it up. It wasn't until I started sanding the cover down where I realized it was too late. I'm about to do my final coat (coat #4) and it's looking great. I'm gonna lit it cure for the next week before I throw it back on the car.

Adjusting rear dampers has never been easier; I just need to stick my tiny Asian hands through the wheel spokes and BAM!

BWA-HA-HA-HA!!!

Is that the funniest thing you've ever written, because it's got my vote.

Got any whole car photos yet?

I just got back from the Greater Rochester Auto Show, which is 95% cars driven here directly from the dealerships, and only a handful of unique vehicles. The new MKZ was very appealing to me, particularly with Ford's new 3.0TT at 400hp. The new Chevy Camaro was pretty to look at, but akin to driving a cave. A cavernous and cheap cave. There was an F-Type R that spoke directly to my soul. There was a Dodge Hellcat Challenger that seems like a particularly silly car in person.

It wasn't as big as the major metropolitan shows can get, but it's all we got, and I usually go to it. Much of the afternoon was in consideration of the next mid-sized cross-over for the wife. I'm thinking VW Tiguan.

I think I might be having a mid life crisis.....

Ive recently turned 40 and haven't had a hair cut in 15 months.

Today, my wife bought me black hair ties, so "they match your interior better than the pink ones you steal from the 2 year old"

So I visited a shop on Saturday to see how much it would cost to get my front grille painted gloss black... The shop turned me away because it was "chrome". I repeatedly told them that it was plastic and it's been done plenty of times before. Sigh

I know. That's why it was funny.

And man oh man, your car looks fantastic. You should be feeling the pride.

Meh. Just enjoy it while it lasts. In 10 more years you'll be wondering when it turned grey and thin. It's just life, man. Don't fret about it and just keep digging the family sedan that you've turned into a mid-life hobby.

You need to call these places first. Sometimes they just don't want the little jobs. And sometimes they genuinely don't have the skills.

Hey Lego, I'm on the edge now... feeling like I'm about to commit to the TWM STS, with the Z1 Motorsports transmission mount. The plan (for the last two years) was to swap out rear gears this Springtime, but that's a 3X expense over the shifter + mount, and a bunch of family expenses has tamped down my mod schedule to a halt.

The more I mull this over, the more I'm rationalizing how much I value driving the car vs. getting a rush out of the speed. Speed is a momentary thing, but you're always driving the car.

So... are you still thumbs-up about your STS?

When my son was in high school, he had a rebellious stage and grew his hair long. One day at the dinner table I looked at his hair, and he goaded me on with, "Well, aren't you going to say something?".

My wife smiled and said, "When your father was in high school his was longer.". He had it cut the next day....

Eventually I'll add the trans mount too, just not in a big hurry.

Your teardrop shifter will sit low and you'll probably want another redline boot cut 1/2" shorter.

Could be, Old Man. If there's a bridge to be crossed here, I'll cross over when I get to it. If it's an issue, then a new boot is one option, but so is a new ****, or a thread extender. We'll see when I get to that point.

Now that I'm thinking serious about this mod again, I find that I feel kind of excited about it. I had a STS mod in my 2003 Maxima, and absolutely loved having a short throw.

Like Rochester said, doing just a grille isn't worth the time for a lot of busy shops. You'd be better calling around to some of the smaller ones.
