Right on! I had a 1992 LX 5.0. That thing would go like a rocket! I think it was underrated at 225 hp / 300 lbft of torque. I was just out of hs at that point and between the guzzling of gas and insurance costs, it was not a practical car for me.

On the G, I've been having the lumpy, unstable idle lately so last night I cleaned the throttle bodies. I had not done it in 50k miles (which I would not advise going that long) but they were quite dirty and today, my idle is completely normal at around 750 rpm. Prior to cleaning it was about 650 and a little bumpy.

Sometimes I really regret that decision (the car, not the little one ) but every time I have to take the kids on a trip somewhere I quickly lose that thought. I'm thinking a year or two down the road I'll get something with a big ol v8 (maybe even a GT500 if things go well) as a weekend car, but we shall see.
When our 1st was born, I bought the wife something safe (Volvo S40). When our 2nd was born, we went right into a Minivan (Mazda MPV). And once the girls were old enough to open their own car doors and get themselves seated, we bought her a cross-over (Honda CRV).

I think in a couple more years, when they're both teens, we'll keep the CRV as a third car for the oldest, and get the wife something small and fun. Maybe a 325i, or a GTI. She had a loaded Civic Coupe with a MT when we first met, and had always talked about getting back into something fun like that.

Chat thread.

Go like a rocket was a relative term, but yeah, back in the day, the 302 pretty much ruled the streets. My buddy had a '91 GT, and it seemed so fast....until I got an LT1 f-body, and it just walked all over him. But nothing sounded as good as the 5.0

My old man recently traded in his '94 GT convertible with 20K miles on a turbo Bettle 'vert

In a few years, I hope to be in a position to fill the vacant bay in my 3 car garage, and something like a Mustang, perhaps in Boss trim, is going to be on the short list

Anybody, Please enlighten me to what size hubcentric rings are required for our G sedans. Is the fitment dependent upon rim hub bore diameter or is it on the vehicle hub diameter? Maybe it's the combination of the two. Anyhow, I'm just curious as to what size I would need if I had to replace a centric ring. Thanks

Your OEM hub ring OD is 66.1mm so depending on your aftermarket wheels hub ID that would determine what to get, many aftermarket hub IDs are 73.3mm IIRC.

66.1 for the G's hub ring size. As for wheel hub diameter, I think that's dependent on the wheel but most should fit.

IDK about other retailers (or manufacturers, in this case), but my Vossens came with plastic hub rings.

However, I replaced them with aluminum rings for no particular reason. $18 shipped from Amazon.

In other news, my G is now officially a 20K mile car. Not a baby anymore.

Long past that 20k mile mark I'm at 27 now

Mine are plastic as well. Hence the reason for asking about sizes. I'm looking at some aluminum rings now.

Probably a bad question but can someone enlighten me on the purpose of the amber light at the top corner of our headlights?

At first I though it was to indicate a turn from the side but then realized it doesn't blink with the turn signal.

I guess it's just for extra visibility from the side? Doesn't seem to add much in that regard since it's so dim (relatively), I almost just want to get rid of that bulb entirely unless I'm overlooking an important feature (likely).

I replaced those bulbs with some LEDs from Diode Dynamics, they got slightly brighter. They are side indicator lights, not turn signals or hazards. They come on when the headlights or parking lights are on.

Hm Ok thanks. Any chance the bulb is accessible without removing the bumper cover?

It is me or do not many (newer) cars have this sidemarker bulb? I'm thinking of completely removing it because IMO it's an eyesore and doesn't really seem to add much at all in the arena of visibility.

I swapped it out with a white led and like it a lot better now. Didn't have to take off the bumper cover.

It was a tight fit but I was able to squeeze my hand into the fender to get the bulbs replaced. I did remove a small piece of rubber weather trim pieces on each side so that I could "see" what I was going for. I'd recommend patience in changing those top bulbs. It's a slight PITA.

Only 20k miles? Wow. My '10 has 41,3xx! Still runs perfectly, and I thrash it.
