Great. The good news is I ordered an exhaust last week. The bad news is its a fast intentions catback and won't get here for 2-3 months. FK.
Which Fast Intentions CBE did you end up ordering? FI CBE is definitely on my list of mods.

FI catback with upgraded x pipe and 12 inch resonators. I'm going to get my exhaust checked this weekend so hopefully its not too bad and I can wait until it gets here.

Its probably a little too late now, but did you look into Ark at all? Its louder than the 12" FI, definitely has a great sound to it. The thing that turned me away from Ark was the tips. I don't like the burnt tips at all and I don't feel like letting someone hack up the tail pipes to try to change the tips.

I like the tone and loudness of mine, same thing 12 inch resonators and upgraded x-pipe paired with the RHFCs. Not too loud but loud if that makes any sense.

Have you heard the FI exhaust on the G, in person?

Regardless of 12" or 18" resonator, it's a relatively deep tone. No ricer found.

AroundTheG37 & '11G37S - Please let me know how you end up liking your exhausts when they come in. You must be psyched.

What really makes the FI system sound so rich is the resonation at the cat converter. Also why Albert's exhaust sounded VERY rich - those Ark resonated cats are quite interesting as well.

The ARK cats use a Helmholtz resonator directly at the cats, just like the at the cans. Aside from the unique design approach, I think having a resonator, any resonator, directly near the catalyst restriction is the key to tamping down the tone into the deeper range. That's why I started my exhaust mods with the RHFC... even though at this point, matched to the OEM catback, the change is very minimal. (In sound. Otherwise, it is most certainly a power mod.)

Also, according to Albert, his exhaust sounded relatively normal for an aftermarket... until he had it tuned. Then, according to him, all hell broke lose. Another wrinkle in this comparison: AFAIK, the cell count in the ARK is 200, like Berk's cats; whereas FI uses a 300 cell catalyst material. I believe the 300 cell count, and their J-shaped bung connector design, is why FI cats don't run the risk of throwing a Check Engine Light for O2 Sensor out of range. I haven't thrown a code since the cats were installed, but Albert's did (until he had it tuned.)

Cats, resonators, tone... it all ends up being such a subjective discussion. Which is why it never ends, LOL.

You can get the ark with stainless tips FYI. The only reason I did not go with ARK is because I heard it hung really low. Now that I have this exhaust leak it's making me think as to whether I should just go with the ARK now and sell my FI spot. Damnit.

It wasn't tone I was talking about, rather loudness in cabin. I want my exhaust to make noise at low speeds but I don't want it obnoxious either. One thing that worries me about the FI is that it does not retain the VQ sound. You've heard them in person, does it?
