Ran the 1/4 Mile last night

I'll start off by saying I own a 10'37S Sedan 7AT, only engine mods Stillen CAI & Stillen CBE, stock rim/tires put back on the car. Had an absolute blast last night as this was the first time i've been down to the track in a good 8-9 years (since my GS-T eclipse). My honest opinion....very disappointed at my times and how the car performed. We ran from 6-11pm, temps to start were around 90-91 and when we left at 11 it was around 77. I had trouble with my shift from 2nd to 3rd gear ALL night long no matter which way I tried it. I ran using the paddles, then manually shifting the ****, left it in DS mode. All 3 ways there was just a huge lag in the 2nd-3rd gear. No matter when I tried the shift...aimed at 6800, 7k, 7100, 7200, 6700....it didnt matter. The paddles were the best option though and is what was used for about 98% of the night.

Best time of the day was a 13.952 at 99.94 mph. Now granted I really couldnt or didnt want to launch as my tires are relatively low on tread, I can say that my timing off the tree got very good imo for about the last 2 hours of the night. I really thought this car would run mid 13's all day and maybe even lower 13's if got everything on que. I would say about 95% of my runs were right at the 14.1-14.2 mark. Consistant...but disappointing in my eyes. I def picked a dam good night to go as in the 4 1/2 hrs I ran I got in 32 runs! Well just wanted to share my fun night....give a few numbers for you other guys...and then just wished even harder to my bones that I could have found a 6MT when I finally purchased my car. Few pics and vids below....sorry as these are the only ones I have on my phone I took myself (I wasn't out of my car that long to record more, but these are my brother driving her) I should have some better ones up in the next few days as there was a few freinds w/me who took vids/pics as well....enjoy!

wow, 32 runs! you got your money's worth. those temps are high which will hurt our N/A engines so times and trap speed will suffer. imagine what the track temp was if air temp was low 90's! perhaps try again in cooler temperatures? you should be slightly faster and quicker than your runs last night suggest. maybe in the 13.8s and 101-102mph is realistic.

2.1 60' time is respectable, but then the heat gets to you as the run progresses. if you can keep those R/T's in the .2-.4 range you will win a lot of races off the line!

i can't comment on the shifting issues with the 7AT since i am 6MT - the only way to go IMO.

btw - your ride sounded great against that silent Charger, but of course that oil-burner Ram drowned you out.

Thanks, I def got my money's worth for sure! and yea living in florida the humidity is always 100% so on the track can only imagine true temps are. Def going back next month and it should be a little cooler...hopefully by then I'll have some new rubber to actually get a good launch from. I was basically just foot on brake and then punch it when green...tires didnt spin that bad and seemed I launched best with the VDC off. Think I'll try launching various ranges and just keeping it in DS mode as alot of what i've read had the best results that way. Still had a really fun time...just makes me want to get some HFC and a tune now and run again to compare

that number is respectable. I came from a 350z and a there are plenty of people running 13.9 or 14.2 in their 350z with stock tires, all 6MT. Consider your car is a bit heavier than the Z and still pulling a tad bit faster time, I'd say you did a good job. Better tires, oil cooler, and lighten the car a bit will help a lot.

VDC off is a must. i also remove all extra weight - spare tire, crap from trunk, inside car and glovebox, floor mats, ~1/3 tank of fuel (or just as much as you'll need). as for the low-tread tire, that is actually a good thing for at the drag strip. less tread means less weight and more uniform contact with the paved surface!

You should install a grounding kit it may fix the shifting problem.

Yea I literally got off work, picked up my bro and another friend and then headed down to the strip. About a good 45 min drive from my house. Didnt take or empty out anything and actually still had the car seat in the back

Last thing I wanted to do was pop a tire or something on the track being that far from home. Maybe next time I'll be prepared and hopefully get into the mid 13's.

finally someone posted something interesting!!! anyway 13.9 in 90 plus degree and not the best tires isn't all that bad...sounds like u need two things to get rid of the lag-1st a ecu update from dealer 2nd a tune because u have that intake and your air fuel ratio is off from what the computer wants... anyway thanks for the post and keep having fun!!!

funny you say that about the tranny update...I asked a question about it awhile back but never got a response. Had the infiniti tech here tell me that the update would cause a little bit of loss in performance. i.e. sluggish and not as responsive as before is what I was told. Didnt really hear anything from anyone else regarding it.....but it def drew me away from going through w/the update.

As for the Tune..been debating on weather I want to try my hand at either Stillen HFC's or FI...but last thing I want is RASP. So still up in the air on playing that mix-n-match game....was learning more towards Stillen only to stay in uniform w/my cai and cbe...and then an Uprev tune was in the making to complete her, but like I said...still up in the air and then of course the holidays are now around the corner so it is almost certain it will have to wait until next year.

I think I may take the wifes car down next time and see what it runs..hers is a stock journey sedan with R2C intake and some 20's w/new tires on her. Want to see if the power thru the midrange with the R2C's will run any better.

listen I had the same problem with my 2010 x and a ecu update did the trick-also I had the takeda version of the stillen intake and I used a hypertech tune which is designed for both intakes and the dyno showed almost 8hp improvement and I ran a best 13.08 in 1/4 (perfect track conditions in everyway for a x)

13.08 for an x with nothing but a takeda/Stillen? That at least 6 or 7 tenths faster than I would have expected.

Should have left it in DS mode and worked on your times that way. I found in the many passes I did at the drag strip that shifting it myself made for slower lap times. I didn't find that it did anything that DS mode wouldn't do.. other than me risking bouncing it off the rev limiter.

Ran a subie & romped him. By over 2.5 seconds.
Rt.833
60' 1.98
330 5.415
1/8 8.262
Mph 85.03
1000 10.732
1/4 12.831 @ 107.27
Using launch control @ 5k rpm, it works like a champ.
