As for the weather (also been discussed many many many times), the S will be fine in rain and even snow (with snow tires). We get plenty of snow here and I have no problem getting around with the S and my G is lowered a little as well. I have owned both and prefer the S over the X. That's just me.

AWD sucks, you lose all handling and the brakes are terrible, not that the sport brakes are any better..yes I know I have an AWD sedan but this was a lesson learned on my part never to go AWD again...my previous RWD coupes with winter setups were perfect!

I'm very interested in this as well. I live in Montreal, Quebec and we do get a lot of snow during the winter.
I'm currently looking at a 2010 G37XS with 9000 kms and a 2012 G37S with 400 kms on it. My heart is telling me to go with the G37S, but I'm a little weary about driving a rear wheel drive in snow. Here in Quebec, it is mandatory to install winter tires from December to the end of March, so the car will be equipped with studded tires.

No issues with snow tires here in chicago. They do plow the streets eventually, but sometimes hard to keep up with falling snow. With dedicated snow/studded tires you'll be fine. Of course, leaving common sense at home can get you into trouble, even with awd.
I'd go for the 2012 because it's a newer car (longer warranty remaining), much less miles (250 miles is practically brand spanking new), and it's an S. Also, in the sedan trim, the XS and S are two very different cars. You get more S bits in the rwd version than the awd. Is the 2012 a 6mt too?

I also like the fact that the 2012 G37S (Blue Onyx Pearl) has a black interior whereas the 2010 G37XS (Moonlight White) has a grey/beige interior. The difference in price between the 2 cars is $5000. Of course, I plan to negotiate for a better deal.
The G37S also has the full navi package too. And, like you already mentioned, the 2012 has the advantage of a full warranty.

- stiffer struts
- thicker front/rear sway bars
- staggered rims
- limited slip differential (VLSD)
- sport-tuned steering
- summer-only tires
- Proper 6MT... if you can find one
Essentially, all the things that put the "sport" in Sport Sedan.
But AWD is nice too, I suppose, if that's your thing. You can always modify the suspension after the fact.
Big, gorgeous brakes, yes. And...

The G37X "Sport" is mainly a sport only in appearance, the RWD Sport has the huge Akebono brakes, stiffer suspension and the LSD rear end and a staggered wheel/tire setup w/ wider rims in the back. All the things Rochester listed above. The G37X and the G37XS have the same smaller brakes and same suspension components, the main plus w/ the AWD S model is you get the 18" non-staggered wheels, the shift paddles, thigh bolstered seats, aluminum pedal covers, sport bumper.
RWD can be fun, but if you turn off TC and wail into it, the rear end will light up like it's riding on butter... regardless of tires or LSD. You really have to learn how to walk it out of the hole or around a turn. WOT just isn't an option from a standing start, unless you've got AWD.
And clearly, Top Gear has been a terrible influence on me.

Honestly, only you can answer that based on what you want out of a car. There is no right or wrong answer once you get all the facts.
