Not sure if this has been mentioned in this thread. Poor mans engine dress up bolt. Cost $0. I used some left over paint.
Used this card board as a template so I know where they go back.
Then I split them up into the two colors I wanted to use.
All done
Now, I know there's the "but they will just chip when you tighten them down" comments coming.
Most of these do not need to be super tight. The ones that do wind up chipping you can easily touch up with a small brush.
Now time to save my pennies for a proper dress up bolt kit.
You pull on the handle so that you can get a little flat-edge in there and pop off the cover. However, if you keep said screwdriver in the car...
if its IN the locked car... you wont be able to unlock the car to get to it... but the key itself should be enough to force it off in an emergency. worst case scenario, you break a tab and your out 35 bux

the fob batteries last a while, and the car will warn you for weeks/months before it completely dies.
it pops off pretty easily. the latch could be modified a bit to make access more reliable.

Not bad looking as a hold me over...but if you want quality and at a great price...
a really inexpensive mod that makes a genuine difference: reverse the shift direction of your automatic in manual mode. if you can just swap the pin spots its free other you need some heatshrink and splice barrels or you could solder the wires back together.
That's a great idea that's one of those things I always wish was different, may have to look into this now.
ive done many of the better suggestion in this thread, but i dont think this ones been mentioned yet, i installed a 3rd brake light flasher the other night. it was 30 bux.
^looks kinda odd...and likely illegal? As in, attention grabbing for the law-enforcing contingent
looking odd is the goal, hopefully its odd enough to alert any distracted or weary drivers that im braking.
its perfectly legal as per California vehicle Code 25251.5. (c) as long as you program it to be so. Your state may vary.
(a) Any motor vehicle may also be equipped with a system in which an amber light is center mounted on the rear of a vehicle to communicate a component of deceleration of the vehicle, and which light pulses in a controlled fashion at a rate which varies exponentially with a component of deceleration.
(b) Any motor vehicle may be equipped with two amber lamps on the rear of the vehicle which operate simultaneously with not more than four flashes within four seconds after the accelerator pedal is in the deceleration position and which are not lighted at any other time. The lamps shall be mounted at the same height, with one lamp located on each side of the vertical centerline of the vehicle, not higher than the bottom of the rear window, or if the vehicle has no rear window, not higher than 60 inches. The light output from each of the lamps shall not exceed 200 candlepower at any angle horizontal or above. The amber lamps may be used either separately or in combination with another lamp.
(c) Any stoplamp or supplemental stoplamp required or permitted by Section 24603 may be equipped so as to flash not more than four times within the first four seconds after actuation by application of the brakes.
also, you can set it to function normally except for when it senses an increase rate of braking force, for example, you start braking slowly and then realize you need to stop sooner and apply more brakes, normal lights couldnt convey this change (it would be up to the driver to interpret the new deceleration rate), but this module can.
ive actually reprogrammed it since the video to be more conservative in its flashing. this includes a short lock out period where it wont flash after brakes have already been applied once
