Post Need help with g37 sedan exhaust

Hi all!

im a forum newb. setting out to buy an exhaust system for my 2011 G37X SEDAN. Now, I know the choices are limited but here is my situation.
My G37x is lowered (i'll post pictures later) on BC RACING COILS and now I can't really rip it unless I know the roads a perfect. Basically i accelerate slowly and never go above (I live in Vancouver Canada so) 70 km/h on normal roads. I want to buy an exhaust that sounds great even @ low RPM. I won't really "care" about how the exhaust system sounds at redline because I almost don't get a chance to go there. I know it is unfair to compare, but, my most desired vehicle is actually a 2011+ STI hatchback but I got the G because it is a much easier car to live with.. Granted, I do love how the STI sounds even at low speed due to it's boxer rumble. I am asking all you seniors to help me pick an exhaust. ( i am willing to straight-pipe as well since I don't even rip it [please give me your opinions on straight-piping as well] and the brands that you recommend) that will give me the most satisfaction/best/loudest sound @ low speeds. I have looked into ARK GRIP EXHAUST AND FAST INTENTIONS, that is about it, I was wondering about the INVIDIA brand as well. Other exhausts I would be interested with be the STILLEN, GREDDY, and especially BLITZ. Please tell me about your experiences with such exhausts or introduce new exhausts for me I have 3 months until I move into an apartment and wish to make this modification then which means I have a lot of time, so please give me suggestions for the time being! thanks

Might consider High flow Cats on your stock exhaust, also why not raise your coils a bit so you can still drive your X any way you want?

MXP is also a solid option. I personally have the ARK Grip, its very loud and you have a lot of rubbing on the cans if you are dropped.

I have the ARK exhaust as well, I personally love the sound and the fact that it sounds very quiet in cabin. The pipes do hang low and I drag parts of the exhaust all over the pavement/speedbumps. But I am dropped a bit..

Hahaha thanks! I will look into that. I have considered raising the back more and leave the front dropped for a stances look. Wonder if anyone has opinions on this move. Thanks again

Hey your car is real nice. We have the same colour, (plastidipped?) blackened rear lip and tint haha. I like the way your ark sounds. I am curious to how it sounds while cruising around town? Can you feel a difference? Lastly, did you change more than just the catback I mean did you put a test pipe or anything else? Would you recommend a test pipe? I apologize if I don't have my car part terms used properly hahah. Thanks again!

Yeah, good eye! The rear trunk piece was plastidipped, it has been peeled off since. I plan on wrapping it and the window trim whenever I can find time to do it. I don't have any videos of the sound while cruising around, but it is pretty quiet in the cabin with little to no drone when cruising. I think the car does feel slightly better on the top end, but it is probably the butt dyno talking. I have just the catback, the Mrs does not like the smell of test pipes (had test pipes on my old car for a week before she made me take them off) and I have read that test pipes/hfc produce rasp with the ark exhaust.

I can't personally vouch for it. But i've heard the sound and it's really nice. I don't like the exhaust very loud when I'm daily driving and the MXP imo is one of the most quiet ones. But when you open up the throttle, it's a beautiful sound. Here's the thread for a review:

I personally love my TopSpeed Pro 1. This forum has mixed feelings about it, but other than the less-than-promissed tips it sounds and performs great at all RPMs. And you can take the $600-$700 that you save over ARK or Invidia and get some HFC's if they are legal there.

EDIT: I have a VQ35HR sedan, not the 37, and that should not make a big difference but worth noting.

My TopSpeed has been great, I have the older version w/ the finished rolled tips so it also looks like a HKS exhaust. If they do start shipping these again w/ the rolled tips I'd look into it. The current tips are a letdown compared to the rest of the exhaust, but they do have a nice sound w/ only a slight drone @ a very narrow rpm range, mine is from 1400-1600rpm.
