Yours didn't come with a gps?

Where you going to mount the garmin?

Need to be careful when you cut the garmin cord. The traffic receiver is built into most of them - towards the gps end on the newer ones. Older cords had it right at the plug that went into +12. If yours is such, you'll have to use a socket if you traffic info is important.

Thanks for the response, no it did not, there is actually a converter, you plug what you would plug into the cigerette lighter, in the converter and then the end of that is suppose to plug into the fuse where the lighter fuse is, so no cutting at all, was just wondering if anyone has done it

I think it would be easier and look much nicer just to buy and install a factory unit. The wiring should be already there if someone can confirm. It's silly wiring a portable. It loses portability of a portable, cleanness of a factory unit, gains the worst of both worlds. Are you regretting not getting the Navi option?
