Clutch Pedal Noise

Hey guys,

My 2012 G37S has started making noise within the past two weeks. Anyone else had issues similar to my video below?

Yup, took it to the dealer, they said some part of the clutch pedal assembly was worn and installed a new one under warranty.

Mine will make a noise like that if I keep depressing/releasing the pedal many times after turning off the car. Noise goes away after car is started. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense why.

Is the pedal action smooth, non binding on both the down/up strokes?

@therusty, what part did they replace? A bushing(s) of some sort I bet..

Pedal action is fairly smooth. It is not binding. I can feel vibration in the pedal when it creaks like in the video.

^^Sounds like a bushing or spring then.

If you've never changed the assist spring, the bushings are relatively easy to get to, and may just require a bit of lubrication (white lithium grease).

The bushing is actually part of the clevis, so you can really only lubricate the pins.

To get at the bottom pin, remove the C clip, then depress the pedal to unload it and slide the pin to your left.

The top is done the say way, but getting the pin out and back in is a real pain, so be careful you don't drop it behind the fuse box (don't ask).

Also, it could be your spring that's making the noise too. In fact, before doing anything, I'd remove the spring (visible in the pic above) and see if it still does the noise.

Btw, assuming yours is stock, it'll be alot thicker and probably yellow.

It's ok man. I wear a 15. I know big feets when I see them.

I agree with what's been stated. Lubricating the upper and lower pin might help. You can do it without removing them. Use PB Blaster lithium grease in the spray can. Shield the carpet behind it so you don't make a mess when you spray.

White Lithium Grease

On the work order it says "C/S when pressing the clutch it makes a clicking noise when engaged - replaced clutch pedal assembly - pedal binding"

^^Sure... Why bother spending 15 min to lube a bushing when you can replace the whole thing for a half hour, while billing out an hour. Brilliant.

I have the same issue! Dealer has lubed it a few times, that's only a temporary fix. Never had this problem on my 08 coupe - different clutch I was told.
