I've had my G for a little more than 2 years it's a 2010 and I've already had to replace the battery in my Fob twice. I get the warning on the instrument panel battery Low. I'm wondering if this has to do with the relationship of where your car is parked for the night or week in my case sometimes, And where your Fob is stored. May seem far fetched but the fob has to be in constant communication with the car when it's in range for the door locks to open by pressing the button. So that would lead me to believe that if you park your car in the garage and store the Fob on the Kitchen table which in my case is about 7ft from my car in the garage behind a wall "Of Course". Not really worried about it I can afford batteries just wondering if my theory is plausible.

 

as far as i know the fob is always working. one of the pitfalls of these fancy new gizmos is they chew through batteries, unlike the "archaic" push-button fobs. i had to replace my batteries 3 times in 15 months, but now its been 9 months since the last change.

poor battery life can also be due to old, or stale, batteries that have been on the shelf too long. on average i'd say the batteries should last a year or more.

 

That sucks and I only have one fob since purchasing used. Maybe I should buy a backup fob.

 

My car is almost 2 years old and the original battery is still going strong.

 

I bought my 2010, on 3/10/2010 and the fob batteries are still working fine.

Bought my 2010 exactly 2 years ago. Getting my first low fob battery warning now. My wife's fob is fine. The more the fob is in the car the faster it drains. I only have 25k km on mine which explains the 2 years. My wife has maybe 4 k of that and her's is fine.

 

My 2011 FOB went out at about a year and half, compounded by a bad batch of batteries that the dealer replaced. Hum bug, something you don't want have to worry about. Am told if FOB battery is dead, car can still start by holding it next to the start button and the key in the fob can be used to open the drivers door.

 

I have an 2009 adn I had never change the batteries .the car give me the first alarm like 6 month ago ,but it shows half so i dont think you need to changed as soon you see the alert.

 

Yeb, I waited almost a year to replace the battery after I saw the alert.
