Locking via button vs fob; once vs twice

So, this quirk of the car irritates me to no end, and I'm not sure if there's any solution for it...

When you lock the horn via the door, it chirps.
When you lock the door via the fob, it honks the horn (presumably because you're further away from the car, so it needs to be louder... or whatever).

My issue is the following:

Via fob: Lock = 1 horn Unlock = 2 horn ***edit*** It doesn't actually honk when unlocking. Duh.
Via door: Lock = 2 chirp Unlock = 1 chirp

WTF. Why are these not synced? I want to have it in my head as 1 = this, 2 = that without having to think about which method I'm using to lock the car and what it means in that particular instance.

I know you can disable the notification, but I like having the audible confirmation of what I just did.

Any thoughts?

I've noticed this as well.. It's actually become part of my habit to give a quick pull on the door handle when using the button to confirm it is locked. When using the fob I just look at what button my finger is on.

Mine is disabled. I rely on the amber lights blinking. The horn would wake my family & prevent stealth entry to my house.

Its in the settings right? I always seem to get home when the fam is asleep and that lock horn is actually pretty loud.

And to the OP, idk if its my car being an 07 or what but only the lock makes noise from the key fob, not the unlock.

To change it you have to use the remote but I forgot the actual sequence. It's in the manual. If you don't have access I can look it up later.

2010 - lock from fob makes horn toot, unlock doesn't. I wish it would just beep instead of the horn :/

I believe it is lock and unlock at the same time to turn off the alert.. It's in one of the "tricks of the fob" threads on here somewhere. Holding down unlock to put the windows down has legitimately changed my life the past month.

I'm an idiot. I couldn't remember exactly, and I just assumed it honked when unlocking. You know what they say about assuming...

Still wish you could match the beeps, though. 1 for lock, 2 for unlock. Oh well...

Awesome! I had no idea that the car had this feature. I almost always drive around with the windows down, so I will definitely be dropping them as I approach the car.

I believe this is for any Journey car or above, the Base doesn't have it. Super useful but I wish they could have put the auto windows up in as well. Oh well

You're going to chastise me for not reading something closely enough?

That being said, I do need to go through the manual cover to cover. Hard to do with a 20 month old at home, though...

Even Honda has been doing it going back 10+ years.

Any way you'd want to share that PDF? Maybe upload it to a dropbox, google drive, email it, etc?
