Wow - that's disappointing... Same engine and automatic transmission. No manual transmission??? Steer-by-wire seems to be optional, but it's not clear if the standard power assist is hydraulic or electrical.

The hybrid is a good addition.

Seems like they decided to make a smaller M rather than continue competing for the enthusiast sport sedan market which they are now leaving for others.

 

I know that feel

I expected better, not that my expectations are unrealistic but I was expecting a smaller turbo charged engine. The current 3.7 is HORRIBLE on gas.

At this point I'm just going to get the 435i coupe which will have just as good or better performance and fuel efficiency.

 

Good but not good enough for my buck... At least at first glance. I was hoping for more innovation on the power train front. Looks like infiniti focused on the tech, which makes sense given market trends.

So far, meh.

No manual? What in the world are they thinking?? Its a luxury SPORT sedan..

And they kept the same torqueless vq37 that eats gas. Terrible terrible news, i wasnt expecting such lows from Infiniti.. I guess BMW is the only auto maker left for manual drivers.

 

Maybe we'll get other engine options with the new coupe next year?

The 2007 G35 was the same engine as the previous gen and then we got the new one a year later...(not REALLY brand new, but different)

No 6mt sedan (apparently)
Slightly bummed about lack of engine change but the vq is a great engine regardless so no problems there IMO.

Still not ruling it out completely, but now more than likely will pick up a 13 6mt sedan (now where's the sales guy giving them away for peanuts??)

 

Guys, take a deep breath. They're are two things, big things, we don't know yet.

1. How much does she weight?

2. What are the mpg ratings.

IF it dropped weight, then this is going to be one fast car! PLUS, the M35h is fast, as fast as an M56. The G37 was already a couple hundred pounds lighter than an M. Dropping the Hybrid in a last gen G would have made it a sub 5 second car. I can only imagine the same for this new car.

FYI you may have a new SPORT model, and its called Hybrid and I'm more than OK with that! Since it appears you can have sport options with the hybrid (according to the photos), who wouldn't want a 353HP, 32+mpg (M35h is rated at 32, so this lighter car will only be better) rocket!

The new naming scheme makes even more sense now. It allows infiniti the time to develop truly new power trains without having too much pressure at initial rollout. The hybrid is smart too because those who are turned off by the inefficiency of the 3.7 have that option right away. I think once the next generation engines are introduced the vhr will drop off the menu.

I'm still probably going to wait for the Turbo as I'm not sure how the hybrid brakes would feel... And that's important to me. I might drive an M35h to get a feel for that power train.

Pretty cool that 19" wheels are finally an option on the sedan too

For a lot of us, we've already heard the deal-breaker: No Manual Transmission. I wouldn't be surprised if they only offer the MT in the upcoming Q60, and even then, only when it tops $50K. But I wouldn't hold my breath on that. Fortunately for me, "next car" is many, many years away. Plenty of time to find a better brand.

After 3 MT Nissans over 20 years, I didn't leave Nissan, they left me.

And here I am again... I didn't leave Infiniti, they left me.

 

I was expecting the same engine, but with IPL tweaks.

They couldn't even do that. So lame.

 

Yea, I always seem to like factory rims best...and those rims are HOT. Plus the car looks great!
