I put my Tanabe on this weekend.

PROS: Very impressed with the quality
Perfect fit
Looks stunning!
Super easy install

CONS: It isn't cheap
It is almost silent

I know Tanabe advertises the Medallion as being on the quiet side.....but DAMN.....I was expecting to hear something?? This thing might be quieter than stock haha. I need to get an intake and some HFC's immediately to try and wake this exhaust up. Maybe it needs to break in a bit. Or maybe I am deaf.

Quality construction though. And as for install.....I swapped out my fog light bulbs today, and the Tanabe install was easier and faster than the fog light swap.

I thought the same thing when I put the Tanabes on my buddy's sedan. Give it a couple hundred miles to break in and it'll sound better and louder.

I agree that it is a bit quiet or same as stock mufflers, but rather have that then way too loud. I like them. Check each vendor for pricing. One will be better than others.

Why? Haha.

If it sounds the same as stock, then why spend all that money on the Tanabe?.

I am asking myself that very question right now

I am hoping that it will sound different when it breaks in a little bit. And i
I am getting HFC's and a CAI a.s.a.p....hoping that It may help get some sound out of this thing.

I wish I would have done some more homework before buying this thing. I have only had it on for a few days, but there is a good chance I will be pulling this Tanabe off and selling it.

It IS high quality...and looks GREAT. But it is quiet as hell

It doesn't sound the same as stock. It is a little louder, deeper, and throatier than stock. Which is what I like. Between 3-4k rpm, it sounds great. I rather have this than a loud exhaust you hear on a civic.

Yes, true it comes more alive when you get on it. You can ask 100 people how quiet or how noisy they want their exhaust to be, and get 100 answers. This is way too subjective of a subject to ask of others. Some like drone, some don't. Mellow, aggressive. When folks give a review on their system, along with sound clips, that helps with making a decision.
I think the best question to ask is What does the buyer want? Then do the research.

Tanabe is probably one of the cheapest quality axle back muffler maker out there.

Give them some time to break in. They should sound better and better.

They do look very nice, too bad you're not happy w/ the softer tone. I love my TopSpeed Pro1 so far, a bargain compared to Tanabe and has a deep growl, seems to be holding up well, but time will tell.

Yeah, I thought the Top Speed sounded good....but the super low price scared me a bit. Are you a coupe? The axle backs on the coupes seem to sound better than the sedans IMO. I am a sedan.

Well...I am adding HFC's and a Megan Y pipe and an R2C intake this weekend. Hopefully those will help improve the sound. If not...i will sell the Tanabe and try a different axleback ....possibly Top Speed or Megan.

If i sell the Tanabe someone will be getting a deal. I will sell at a good price and it isn't even a week old.

Mine's a Y-back for the sedan, I don't think they sold the axle-back for the sedan when I purchased mine. My sound clips are on the "top Speed for the sedan" thread.
