from 08 G35xs to 2012 G37xs
from 08 G35xs to 2012 G37xs.. Pics are up !
Hey guys, so I've been a member on this forum for some time now and I recently had a 08 G35xs platinum graphite, Nav, Premium package, stone interior etc..not too shabby for a first car. Car was awesome and lived up to every expectation I had. But as time came I started noticing small rattles developing from all over the place, Passenger seat, window cowl etc... you name it. I managed to fix the window cowl issue but had no luck with the passenger seat rattle. Tightened all four bolts and everything. No luck. So Today I decided to trade the car in and get a 2012 g37xs moonlight white with graphite interior, premium package, nav, etc... MAN what a difference, the g37 really hauls ***, love the deep growl of the engine, and I notice that infiniti managed to get rid of those hard plastics the 07-08 g35's had. Lol, sorry for the long post but I felt like a had to share this for those who are consider moving from the sec gen G35 to G37.
. let the moding begin. Ill try to post picks as soon as possible.

What hard plastics? There's only a few slight differences in the interior between these model years.

THe hard plastics that where by each individual door as well as the center console. In which after a while started to squeak when touched. Trust me dude I know the difference. This was even noticed and pointed out by Car reviews on Youtube. The 09+ G37 sedan has a softer rubbery plastic by the door panels. The 2010 G37 sedan has redesigned center console with rubbery plastic instead of hard plastic.

Oh and yes you don't feel the difference in down low speed but once you get to the top end speed the G37 excels where as the g35 kind of dies off. Noticeable difference.
Again easily seen on races and reviews on youtube. Plus you cant beat personal experience.

Compare 0-60 times from any major publication for an '07-'08 G35 to '09+ G37, and they're almost identical. Personal experience? Yeah, butt dynos are always a reliable test. I've driven both an '07 and an '08 as well as several '09+, and the overall power and acceleration are practically indistinguishable.
Also, the overall quality of materials between an '08 and a '12 is not the least bit substantial. The only notable improvement is around the gear shift, which is more an improvement in design than significant increase in material quality.
In the end, though, if you are happy with you purchase, that's all that matters. Enjoy your new G!

Maybe not substantial difference, But there are differences. If you touch the lower part of the door panels where the storage compartments are on each door you can tell that its hard plastic dude . It doesn't take rocket science to know that. LOl, yes i am that picky and pay great attention to detail. The 09+ has those same parts but more rubbery like material. The 2010+ g37 has the cup holders in leather rather than plastic that is on the 08 g35.
I love both cars but it is proven that the G37 out performs the g35, maybe not by much but it still does. Oh I am definitely happy and would like to thank each one of you for you're comments.
I know right, gives me the sweats. But I usually leave the car around my girls house where she has her own garage.

I own a G35xS 5AT premium sport with nav, and had a 2011 G37x 7AT Journey sedan loaner over the past weekend while having my car serviced at the stealer. I agree with the differences listed so far. The indash screen has better resolution, and the newer G37 interiors replace all the hard plastic with a more rubbery/leathery feeling plastic (it feels kinda like what a rubber toy snake feels like). The center console makes the interior feel a bit more mature or even refined. You can definitely feel the power difference, but its not like explosive power, it feels more like a car that had its injectors cleaned and its been filled up with 94 octane gas along with a free flowing stock exhaust. The faster you go, the more you feel the extra oomph (in the top end). It feels like it breathes better. When I stomp on my G35xS it feels like Im riding a horse and just slapped it on the @ss with a wet hand and it takes off. The G37 feels like your on the same horse but this time you stuck it in the butt with a needle and it takes off after the slight delay kinda reminded me of old Tom & Jerry episodes lol. The G37 was noticeably softer/smoother over bumps and rough roads (I think its the smaller 17" wheels vs my 18"s), the seats were also much more comfortable but dont really do much for spirited driving they just dont hold you on corners. It also seems as though there is some additional noise proofing going on maybe liquid filled motor mounts or sound deadening material? Im not sure but its definitely quieter inside. With all that said about the newer 2011 G37x, to me and my girlfriend it felt like a cheap rent a car. My 08 has way more options. I actually parked the loaner G37 in my driveway most of the time and dreamed about getting my 08 back. Even the stereo was garbage. It felt like I was driving my mom's Camry on steroids. If you buy an Infiniti you MUST get at least the premium package for the wonderful Bose stereo, moon roof, power steering column, memory seats, etc. From there I would probably get the Nav package, and the sport last if comfort is key, but for looks and performance and exclusive features like racing seats, shifter paddles, aluminum pedals, etc you definitely want the sport package. I did the 2011 sport conversion on mine so I just really love my car. I wouldnt change a thing about my 08. I even love the old style console. One nice touch the newer cars have that I wont mind changing to is the upgraded aluminum trim, and getting the better gas mileage. Other than the fuel economy improvement I think its a waste of money to trade in a 2007-2008 G35 sedan for a G37 sedan just because of the power increase. Its only really noticeable when comparing back to back. Im sure my opinion would be totally different if my loaner was a limited edition in Malbec black with red seats and daytime running lights.
