I like to see other G owners who have had a G and bought another. I, too, had a G35 sedan previous to my G37, but I had an '04 G35 and there is a BIG difference in power between the '04 (260hp) and the '11 (328hp).

Still... both great cars.

The indash screen has better resolution, and the newer G37 interiors replace all the hard plastic with a more rubbery/leathery feeling plastic (it feels kinda like what a rubber toy snake feels like). The center console makes the interior feel a bit more mature or even refined. You can definitely feel the power difference, but its not like explosive power, it feels more like a car that had its injectors cleaned and its been filled up with 94 octane gas along with a free flowing stock exhaust. The faster you go, the more you feel the extra oomph (in the top end). It feels like it breathes better. When I stomp on my G35xS it feels like Im riding a horse and just slapped it on the @ss with a wet hand and it takes off. The G37 feels like your on the same horse but this time you stuck it in the butt with a needle and it takes off after the slight delay kinda reminded me of old Tom & Jerry episodes lol. The G37 was noticeably softer/smoother over bumps and rough roads (I think its the smaller 17" wheels vs my 18"s), the seats were also much more comfortable but dont really do much for spirited driving they just dont hold you on corners. It also seems as though there is some additional noise proofing going on maybe liquid filled motor mounts or sound deadening material? Im not sure but its definitely quieter inside. With all that said about the newer 2011 G37x, to me and my girlfriend it felt like a cheap rent a car. My 08 has way more options. I actually parked the loaner G37 in my driveway most of the time and dreamed about getting my 08 back. Even the stereo was garbage. It felt like I was driving my mom's Camry on steroids. If you buy an Infiniti you MUST get at least the premium package for the wonderful Bose stereo, moon roof, power steering column, memory seats, etc. From there I would probably get the Nav package, and the sport last if comfort is key, but for looks and performance and exclusive features like racing seats, shifter paddles, aluminum pedals, etc you definitely want the sport package. I did the 2011 sport conversion on mine so I just really love my car. I wouldnt change a thing about my 08. I even love the old style console. One nice touch the newer cars have that I wont mind changing to is the upgraded aluminum trim, and getting the better gas mileage. Other than the fuel economy improvement I think its a waste of money to trade in a 2007-2008 G35 sedan for a G37 sedan just because of the power increase. Its only really noticeable when comparing back to back. Im sure my opinion would be totally different if my loaner was a limited edition in Malbec black with red seats and daytime running lights.
Well, its been literally a month since I got custody of the car and here is my impression. The car pulls just as hard as my ex g35 but what turns me off is the hesitation and feed back of gas pedal. At cruising speeds I feel like the car gear hunts too much, creating this slow build up of speed. This might contribute to the fact that it still may not be broken in. I use to love the gas pedal settings or feed back on my G35 more. I do like the top end pull on the g37 better. I notice one sits higher in the g37 in comparison to the g35. The G37 definitely feels smoother when accelerating hard. I also noticed that it has a deeper growl than the G35, but that can be compensated with aftermarket exhaust. To be honest, I liked the more aggressive gearing of the G35 maybe it was due in part of the 5speed trans. Personal preference I guess. But at the end of the day not much difference between both cars.

you should find the thread on here about reprogramming the 7 speed auto. This might help with that lag you are feeling. Enjoy the new ride and be careful with the curbs(in that 1st pic, your front rim looks too close for comfort)

^ i agree on both being great cars. i also had an '04 G35 6MT sedan. to be honest, i often have a hard time noticing the extra grunt. it is well known that the 04 sedan's 260 was actually 280 (just like the coupe), so there should be ~50hp more in the g37. obviously the g37 weighs 2-300lbs more so that counters some of the extra power. i notice a slightly stronger pull above 4k rpms, but around town i see little to no difference - even a slight reduction in useable torque under 3k rpms.

Totally agree.

The power difference between my 04 G35x and the 12 G37 loaner I just had felt negligible.

I dont feel like that at all. Maybe is was the condition of my two cars, but my 04 G35x was much less responsive and pulled much less than my 08 G35xS.
There was a lot of lag in my 04 compared to my 08.
Where no one can disagree is the handling between the 1st gen and 2nd gen sedans. The 2nd gen blows the 1st gen away in the curves.

I too drove an 11 loaner and wasnt too impressed. It was ok, but not enough for me to want to upgrade yet.

I do like the sport front on the 10+ sedans and may upgrade that at some point(just got a 10+ rear bumper actually), but for now, I am happy with my 08.

What hard plastics? There's only a few slight differences in the interior between these model years.
PPL doesn't seem like to do a simple search before stating false info as facts. Based on MT's data, G37 best G35 in almost every way. G37 has only 22 more hp but carries 98 lb more weight, yet 0.4 sec faster to 60, 0.5 sec faster 1/4 mile, auto vs manual.

The interior material is no comparison hand down, unless you can not tell the differences between a Camry and a ES350.

2009 G37S 2007 G35S
Power (SAE net) 328 hp 306 hp
Torque (SAE net) 269 lb-ft 268 lb-ft
Transmission 7-speed auto 6-speed manual
Length x width x height 187.0 x 69.8 x 57.2 in 187.0 x 69.8 x 57.2 in
Curb weight 3702 lb 3604 lb
0-60 5.0 5.4
Quarter Mile 13.5 sec @ 105.3 mph 14.0 sec @ 100.4 mph
Braking, 60-0 mph 110 ft 112 ft
Lateral acceleration 0.90 g avg 0.90 g avg

I think the interior hes talking about the door pull handles, in 09 they revised them to the softer rubbery ones to stop the paint peeling issue. But the majority of the G35 guys got revised ones as a free replacement.

Also you can't compare the 7at to the 6spd manual.

And the G37 is hardly better in anyway vs the G35.

VQ35HR has no VVEL (which is useless, complicated, and used mainly for emission control) and the 5spd is bullet proof in comparison to the trouble prone weak and heavy 7spd auto, which also was designed to meet EPA guidelines.

About the only thing they got right is the revised center console, got rid of the volkswagon themed center cluster info panel, and got that sweet sweet Sport Bumper in 2010.

Well, I suggest you go check both interior side-by-side, you will tell the differences, especially when you look at both with wood package which makes a world of difference above the base cheap aluminum trims. The easiest is to go a dealer's lot where you can see some used G35s.

I guess you are saying the auto is faster than manual? G37 is half a second faster than G35 in 0-60 sprint and 1/4 mile despite 100 lb weight disadvantage is something "hardly better"? Well, really don't know what to say now...

I dont know how did you come up with that statement? give me a break. G37 is by means better than G35 as a completely upgrade. inside and out

Haven't done simple research? Your assumptions only demonstrate your foolishness. I've read every article and review posted I can find on both G35s and G37s. Yeah, you can cherry pick times for each to try to support your claim, or you can look at a variety of sources. Did you look into the testing conditions for each of those times you quoted? Did you happen to read the article about the '07, it stating that it was a green motor and the weather was hot and humid? Probably not. I only have to go to Car and Driver to find G37 times that are IDENTICAL to the G35 you quoted. Link

Without quoting every article and test I've ever read, an '07-'08 G35 should do 0-60 in the 5.2 - 5.6 range. With an '09+ G37, you can expect a range of 5.0-5.4, based on tests I've read. You're talking about an only slight advantage, not a tremendous difference.

Also, you saying the difference between quality of interiors from an '07 G35 to a G37 is the same as a Camry and a ES350 is absurd. They're mostly the same. They upgraded a few details here and there, but for the most part they're the same.
