Man, that sucks. At least you have an excuse to upgrade when you do get around replacing it.

Love the car so far, newest car I've ever had. New to infiniti, but not new to Nissan. I have a 1993 300ZXTT that I work on myself. The G reminds me of the Z a lot. Matter of fact I was turned on to the G37 sedan by other Z32 owners that have Gs and absolutely love them. I have to admit that I hadn't really given much thought into the G37 until pretty recently when I started looking into performance sedans and read about how they are such a good option. The 370Z platform, RWD, manual, all in sedan form. I am recently married (1 year anniversary coming up in October) and my wife was urging me to get something more practical and new. She was skeptical about the G at first, especially the fact that it is manual. Fortunately she loves it now that she's seen it in person and ridden in it with me, so that is a huge win. I have lurked these forums for a few weeks now and am getting familiar with a lot of the common mods and particulars with this car. No crazy plans for this car other than some aesthetic mods. I'm thinking I want to get some OEM splash guards, rear deck lid, front lip, vinyl overlay for the rear "diffuser", lower the car, get some nice wide wheels with meaty tires and a tasteful sounding nice looking exhaust. Pretty stoked to be a G37 owner!

Really clean! I love that color

After much deliberation, I've decided to go with the G35 OEM shift **** with gunmetal trim.

Although the G37 one feels OK to me, I think its design is odd and not at all sporty, particularly due to the lack of shift pattern on the **** itself.

The **** replacement will also be accompanied by the redline perforated shift boot, and eventually wrapping the brushed aluminum trim with...darker brushed vinyl. Imagining this will lead to a subtle revamp of the interior without leaving the OEM look I've been trying to keep

That is the same as the 350Z shift **** and it looks very similar to a 370Z ****. You will probably destroy your old shift **** trying to get it off. (Hint: Use the largest pliers you can find) Ask if that shift **** is weighted before you order it. If not, I would recommend a weighted ****. You wouldn't think it, but a weighted **** makes the shifting a lot smoother.

Having had a 370Z and one 350Z in the family I don't think any of them have shift ***** that are very different. I get that you are going gun metal to be darker and hoping it will match the vinyl you put on the dash, but for $200 for a shift **** don't you want something a little different than OEM?

+1 on a weighted shifter. I just put a TWM STS in with a non-OE weighted ****, totally feels like the car should have come out of the factory like this. To 4DZs point, only buy those shifters if they're weighted.

Here's the one I bought with some newly upgrade leather from Redline.

Damn. All that new leather looks absolutely fantastic. Right down to the ****, your four-point boot, the p-brake handle. Nice.

This is how upgrade, you make things look better but still OEM.

Is there a bowdown smilie? I don't think I use that very often. Wait, here it is

Well, it is definitely a personal preference. I always felt like I was rowing a boat with the tall factory shift ****. Besides, lower shift ****= shorter shifts (because racecar)

The STS drops the height enough that it doesn't have the boat feel, at least to me. I'd be all over a weighted shift **** that is the same size as OEM.

True, the STS helps with the height and shift feel a lot as well.

Pri- That shift **** looks nice installed.

Pri.g, you should collect all your photos for this stuff... shift ****, shift boot, p-brake boot, armrest cover. And create a thread documenting the project. Go for it. I bet you'd do a great job of it.

Appreciate all the feedback.

I'd like to go with a heavier shift ****, but not yet found one that looks OEM to me. Really a stickler about that, which has limited options for plenty of other mods as well. Will keep searching though...

HI all. Just recently joined the site. There are some fantastic cars in this post. I'm still driving my '05 G35 6MT Sedan in Brilliant Silver, with 154K miles and counting. Thinking of upgrading to a G37 at some point. I remember it took me about 8 months to find a suitable G35 that I wanted. There sure aren't many G37 Sedan 6MT's for sale either.

I think I only saw one blue sedan in this post. Does anyone out there have a Blue Slate or Lakeshore Blue 6MT Sedan? Is that the rarest of 6MT colors? I would love to have one of those, or perhaps a red one, but that is a rare color, too. Like many years ago, I will be patient in my search .
