I've decided to hold onto mine too. I was strongly considering selling it and buying a nice E90 M3 but their prices have gone up in the past few years and maintenance on them is more over time as well. Figured I can revisit owning one of them as an "old man" car someday, I'm almost certain. The plan now is to, when the time is right, sell my wife's Cruze and replace it with a BMW X3M for the all-purpose vehicle that will still be entertaining when I'm having to drive it, which is fairly often. The G is just like Rochester's at the moment: garage queen status. My company vehicle is my DD.
Can it still be a DD if one rarely drives daily? I had some local customer calls this week so I was a real commuter (with passengers even), racking up a whooping 70 miles total. Strange how many of us have found ourselves in a similar spot, unable to imagine a scenario where it makes sense to get rid of the G.
The car is worth way more to me personally than the 15K (or less) that someone would offer me for it (below is KBB's estimate). Interesting that KBB thinks the car is worth nearly half of what I paid for it 11 years ago. The depreciation seems reasonable, especially if one factors in the enjoyment of the outlet it provides.

Guess that’s the hallmark of any original owner who’s held onto the car for this long. Big discrepancy between how the market values the car and how much they’d be willing to sell it for.
Makes sense. Market sees a 10+ year old, entry level luxury 4-door. One that sold at much lower MSRP at the end of its run (Q40). But for us, the intangibles are at play (knowing the car’s history, etc).
My first drive for 2025 the other day, couldn’t resist the garage photo:

I love empty garage photos as well. Looks great, but why does your car look dark green to me. Reflections?
@STownSaint Looks black for sure in that last photo. I saw one of the black opal Redsports on the lot near the beginning of last year when I was in for a transmission fluid exchange. Agree that pictures do not do that color justice. Even the CF OEM rear spoiler looks right on this model (other colors I prefer paint matched).
Wonder if they would let this go for under invoice with all the uncertainty around the brand. I think invoice is around 52.5K.
This is a helluva car for 51.5-52K. I read somewhere that dealers in the southeast are letting 2024 Performance packages Zs go for 52Kish as well. The advantages that would have over the RS are LSD and 6MT. Pretty sure that the turbos, VR30 and platform are the same as the RS.
I've pondered swapping the G for something else, but the car is worth a lot more than the money at this point. Just hit 195k km, originally bought with 55k km 10 years ago (about 120k miles, bought with 34k miles). I keep going back and forth on more mods, primarily finally swapping the swift springs for coil overs, and I am having trouble justifying spending that much on a 13 year old car with almost 200k km on it ... but at the same time, don't see myself getting rid of it anytime soon... I don't know....

In the past year or so, I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m keeping the G for the long haul. Mainly because it’s the last of a dying breed, replacements barely exist. But also because what I would want to sell it for is so far from what anyone would be willing to pay for it. Maybe it’s the curse of an orig owner who only drives it sporadically. So it’s staying in the fleet for good

The guy who came by yesterday to redo my tint (they offered, the spots were tiny) was a 20 something car enthusiast (he has a 2018 Daytona Charger, but his old man has a larger stable of gems like a mint Pontiac G8) and he was floored by the condition and OEM+ look of my car. He said that he has always liked the G, but finding one used and tastefully modified that hasn't been beaten to hell is nearly impossible. He also told me that there are likely almost no original G owners who still care for the car as an enthusiast would; I mentioned that there's a group of us here on myg37 and that we'd only sell our cars to one another :-)
Thanks. No tint. Well, the back window is tinted, but New York tint laws means the side windows have to be OEM. That happened like 10 years ago.
We have similar tint laws as well, but it you stick to 35%, it still looks somewhat stock as you can see through the windows. Law enforcement here seems more focused on loud exhaust and emissions than tint.
I just pulled the 11 year old tint off the sides (rear is more challenging as it tears the defrosters off) and replaced with Ceramic.
The color looks more natural and it keeps the interior alot cooler.
Looks a little darker in the garage.

It's not so much looked at as a traffic violation, it simply won't pass inspection. Lots of people still have tint though, and I don't know how they do it.

That's right. You mentioned once prior that NY requires visual inspections. It would be hard to hide any form of tint in that case as all they'd need to do is let the window down a few inches and they'd see the tint. Is the inspection required as part of the annual registration, or is it independent? Emissions are like that here. Stressful. I see people on here that live in CA and are running test pipes of HFCs. Not sure how they pull that off either as CA doesn't even want you changing your exhaust (after the Cats).
