New member: g35 sedan vs g37 sedan (tried searching)

Hello

My name is Kevin, I currently drive an evo x that I'm planning to sell. I'm about to graduate with my bachelors so was looking to move into something toned down but still nice and sporty. So the g is on my list, but I was wanting to see opinions on the g35 sedan (the redesigned 2007+) or g37 sedan. I tried to search threads or anything on google and couldn't find anything. Mainly with the 3.7 engine and 7 speed vs the 3.5 5 speed and etc. maybe my searching wasn't working so any links would be great.

Thanks

I think your answer depends on your budget. The G37 has more oomph and the redesign looks nicer than the G35. But it all comes down to $$$ and cents.

I don't have any links but if you're coming from the Evo and still want the power then get the g37. You'll hear people gripe about the 7spd but all in all its not that bad and worth getting the extra power with the 37.

Welcome! A lot of people here have complained about the 7at in the 37 and having driven both the 35 and 37 i'd have to agree.. the 5at is a better sorted gearbox. If your looking at used, I'd definitely drive both and go from there. Aesthetically the 2009 g37 is the same as the 2007 and 2008 g35 sedan except for little things like you have like 6 different settings for the heated seats as opposed to two in the g35. Once you get into 2010+ you get the revised front and rear fascia and more tweaks to the interior. The only other thing I would do is note that the 2010+ models feel better put together than older g's. Overall its a great ride and you'll get what your looking for; a toned down sports car. Good luck with your search!

The 7at isn't too bad. It has a few quirks, but nothing that makes me regret buying it. I have an '09 G37 and it has the styling of the 2007+ G35, just with the bigger engine and 7at. I personally prefer the interior of mine more than the slight tweaks in the 2010+, but others may think differently. The G37 is a good car for a young professional, still fun to drive but carries a lot of class with it. Keep in mind, if you want the sport package or nav, make sure to buy one with those features as they are very costly to add afterwards (still haven't seen a non-nav to oem nav upgrade successfully done).

Welcome to the forum!

This pretty much sums it up right here, coming from a G35 just 2 weeks ago the 7sp & power difference are worth spending a little more.

Thanks for all the quick replies, never got this many in any thread I started on my evo forums haha. But sounds like the g37 is my choice. I noticed the tweaks between the 09 to 10 with the front (grille and head lights), need to check pics of the interior and rear. I really want the "s" sport package but here in San Antonio Texas there's none :/ there's a red g35s that the wheels look awesome. Negatives is being a 35 and my evo is red and don't want red again haha. Hoping for white or black. But I'm I'm the process of putting my evo x to stock to ready it for trade in. I'm hoping to find a g37 below 30k miles with sport package, guess I'm gonna hope one turns up on autotrader kinda soon once I'm ready to trade in evo.

UGH...I accidentally deleted everything I'd written down in my post! DANG IT! LOL

Okay well...in short, welcome to the boards. Be patient and find exactly what you want - don't settle. Are you interested in a 6MT? 6MT's are fun, but also have synchomesh issues (rough - but normal). The 37 and 35 aren't too different in terms of power, but coming from an EvoX, I'd say the 37's the way to go.

Find a 2010 if you can afford to

I've had 07 35 & now 09 37, I prefer the 5AT ( I really wish they'd have just added a big OD gear to the excellent 5AT for a simpler 6AT). All 35s will be out of warranty, so that alone would push me into a 37. Other than that just look for a clean low miles example of any 37, the tweaks are minor (I like the 09 and earlier grill for example) but be sure to get an "S" if you can find one. A used S won't be much more but you do get a lot, it's worth searching different states too, IMO.

Eksigned, can you post more pics? Haha. Looks good. If/when I get a g 37 sedan, I wouldn't mod too much but I'd plan to paint grille black or buy an aftermarket one, do LEDs like for drl and interior and 6000k hid bulbs. I'd also debadge whole trunk and do something with tail lights, don't like how red they are lol. Maybe light smoke or something. Lastly get an exhaust, something with tone but not loud.

Any links to good sites you guys use for parts like grilles, Exhausts, etc?

You should definitely find a 2010 if you can.

You don't like the updated interior? I personally don't like the red/orange

Welcome to the forum. In terms of looks the 37 sedan in later model years does look best. Check out this newly created thread https://www.myg37.com/forums/g37-sed...ur-sedans.html

The 2008 G35 sedan has the newer body style with the 5 speed. Yes there is a lot of gripe about the 2009+ 7 speed tranny, I have one and I do recall the smoothness and power of the used 2008/5spd I test drove. I was about to get it, then saw a dealer-demo 2009/7spd and it was only 2k more, so I went for it. I would have been fine with either, but I do recall the tranny on the 2008 just seemed to drive more predictably and smooth. Both are fast, I don't recall the 2008 feeling any slower although it is rated with slightly less HP. Just get what you can afford.

Yes the 2009 and 2010+ speedo/tachs do look different:
