I find the Infiniti ads extremely lame and it shows how desperately they want to be and beat the BMW.

Same with the Lexus ads that bashes on Audi and the Audi ads fighting back and forth.

If you need to downplay the competition to prove you are superior, you aren't really superior.
This is a bad culture.

I've always wondered why BMW compares a 335 turbo car with a NA G37? Don't they make any NA's? They make cars closer in price to the G37 too, but, they compare a car that costs more? IMHO = Fail
Sorta like Nissan comparing a GTR with the 335, except the GTR and 335 are both turbos.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Well, the 2nd place guy is always comparing himself to the 1st place guy

They don't call it the ultimate driving machine for nothing!

Yeah... a TWIN turbo that makes 28 less HP and a little more torque.

IMO bmw does not compare themself to Infiniti.
It's Infiniti keeps comparing themself to bmw.
You can tell from their ads.

The 3 and the G are in the same class.
That's why everyone including the media compares them.

The GTR is in the whole different class.

BTW i do wish Infiniti would turbo charge the VQ so the low end torque wouldn't be so bad.

It's twin power turbo which it's single turbo.
The 335 is underrated because when it came out it was as powerful as the previous gen M3.

At the time they still want people to buy their M right?

BTW, the torque makes the car feel quick. Not the raw horsepower.
The 300 torque is available from mid 1k rpm in the 335. While the 200 something torque is only available from mid 4k rpm in the G.
That's night and day difference.

San~Man, Doesn't "ultimate" mean better than anything else on the road or track at any price by any manufacturer?
I think I'll have to take another test drive!

This has been fun. As some may members may know, I was a charter member of Group Z for many years. At the same time, I was big into BMW 2002’s and a club member for many years. After 30 years, I’m still friends with some club members including the BMW club magazine editor. –In short, I get cr@p from both sides, usually in good fun. The banter here is much the same it has been as long as I can remember although the car models have changed.

In all seriousness, and also in my humble opinion, for those that are new to this class of car and reading posts while shopping the two car brands, based on my experience, for a daily driver, the 335 or G37 are both excellent choices.
Advice given by many BMW owners: Don’t own a BMW past warranty, lease it. (However, nowadays that may be good advice for most any manufacturer to some degree.)
-Heard from some G37 owners, “I want Forced Induction." (I hear the 2013(?) G will be turbocharged.)
-Do your homework, although car mags can be bias, they will often make points worth thought. JD Powers, Consumer Reports, etc. are worth a look see too.
-Also IMHO and that of Top Gear, my daughter, etc., the “image” of each brand is very different. Depending on your personality, it is a good or bad image and you may prefer one or the other.
-If you are at all of the mind, join local car groups / clubs. Over the years, I have enjoyed and benefited from them as much as the cars.
-Lastly, build a scarb (V8 240Z) and let me drive it for the weekend!

Although this thread was a very tedious read, it seemed to center on the "age-old" agrument of comparing the G35/G37/S/X sedan to the BMW 335i or ix - you really have to compare Apples to Apples: BMW 3 series ix[probably a 335ix) to a G37X to be completely fair, they should be loaded with the appropriate option packages (All weather, Premium, Navaigation, Technology, whatever)...bottom line is the complete test drive [must be auto trannys also). One will be different than the other (subject opinion), one car will do some things better than the other and vice versa. They always do: There is NO Perfect Car...It will come down to Overall Value for your Buck.

Also lots of talk about the new Acura TL, but no talk of the Volvo S60 T6. I gues you could throw in an Audi too: A4, the A6 will cost more than the G , the TL, S60, I would think... I offer this because until this week, I've never driven a Volvo. I have the opportunity to have Volvo XC70 Wagon 3.2 as a rental car for a few days, very nice car...not as sporty of course, but Quiet, smoth, and luxurious in many respects...Based on this I would Look at the S60 with little hestitation with a Turbo 6 (the T6)
