It's a mass produced car that will depreciate in value whether you drive it or not. Drive it.

I happen to live in Sulphur, LA.
If you'll remember, residents of NO fled from the infamous hurricane Katrina to the west. What you likely never heard is that Sulphur housed many of those refugees and is one of the many cities that have informed the city of NO that they will not host their fleeing residents in the future. This was due to the exponential increase in the local crime rates including violent crimes while NO refugees were in the area. Many were arrested from shelters for pissing on other refugees and vandalizing the shelters they were housed in. The refugees caused more damage to the facilities they were housed in than had been caused since those facilities were built. Fortunately hurricane Rita rid us of the trash that Katrina dumped on us. Beaumont has added itself to the "We don't take NO refugees" list since then if I'm not mistaken.

So, to answer your question directly, I live elsewhere in LA which I deem to be so much better than NO. Everywhere else in Louisiana is better than New Orleans.

I don't need to relive Katrina, I went through it on the front line the first time at the Astro Dome doing what I could to help refugees here in the Houston area. Obviously Houston housed tens of thousands more Katrina refugees than Sulphur did so I'm probably much more aware of the issues arising from that. A great number of people from NO are still living here. Far more than the entire population of Sulphur.

I'm also from Louisiana. I've worked in and visited both places. And I have to say I'll gladly take the Crescent City over Sulphur any day so I guess it's just a matter of opinions, we'll have to agree to disagree on it. It's all good. Rock on.

Well I just I just got back from the 1,200 mile round trip from The Big Easy. Very glad I left my new G in the garage. The hotel I stayed at had covered valet parking and I did not need to drive when I was there, so the G would not have been in danger. Wow, Halloween in the French Quarter is a trip, Monday night felt like Mardi Gras. Way to much Driving for 1 1/2 days though.

I'm glad you had a good time. I immediately thought about you when I saw this and hoped that you'd post again so we'd know you weren't one of the victims.

Wow, we called it a night before midnight. Before reading this, I was thinking how passive everyone was , even the "questionable crowd". I apreciated you thinking of me, even though you don't know me. Thank you.

Paul

I generally baby my car until it gets a few dings and miles on it. The more touch up paint on it, the less babying. Going on long trips is a tough question. A thousand miles of high-speed road chips or take the old car? Tend to avoid long trip in the beginning. It stays looking newer longer.

I had a good laugh at this story. Yes, you are crazy. You should have just driven the **** out of it for the first few hundred miles, and varied the RPMs widely. Put it in manual, put the RPM's to 5k, speed up to 7k, slow down to 4k... The problem with taking a trip in the new car is that many people will just set the cruise control. That consistency isn't good for a new engine.
