I would of driven to the area, then get a rental car to drive around. Probably cheaper that way.. As for miles, last year I put 2-3K miles on the car, and over 22K miles on my bike. Bought it in march and put it away into storage late october.

You made the better choice of not driving your car to the Nola. But if you where going to a calm place then you should have just taken it. But in this case you made the right choice. Ive worked in NO so its not place for a awesome car like the G.

Where we live I have my town car (a 93 Toyota truck) that we use for going to the movies or the mall, etc. when we have to park it unattended for a long time, especially at night. Our town is loaded w/ lowlifes that really seem to enjoy trashing things that they'll never work hard enough to own themselves
Enjoy your trip even though the drive won't be nearly as fun.
^This. Mine is a '93 F150, $500 MAACO paint job starting to peel, dings all around, side mirrors sticking about 18" out. When I park between two cars and go in for dinner, there's always empty spaces to each side of me when I come out.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with driving to NOLA. As I said, I've done it dozens of times in my G since I got my car in late '07. Of course just like any major city (or even small town these days) you have to use some good judgement with where you park. As the OP indicated that he knows better than to drive it actually into the Qtr. on Halloween, he would have been just fine.

Cool

Hmmm... I drive my G ~130 miles/day, from north of Baltimore to (now, previously McLean) Suitland, for a contract I'm working on for the next 18 months. Thankfully, it's a secured lot!

Bought 'er in late July, she already has over 5K on the odo... We took the wife's EX that we bought at the same time down to Florida and back. I'd have taken the G, but she can't drive stick.

I buy and work on cars I love to drive, not use as dust covers for my garage floor!

Gotta agree with BB. I bought my car to drive it, not look at it. I drove it to Vegas a week after I bought it.

I go for joy rides on my days off that are frequently 100-120 miles long.

My employer will rent me a car to drive from Dallas to Austin and back for business trips, I often just take the G because I prefer driving it.

They do offer me a reimbursement but it's not equal to the cost per mile, but not bad, either.

As a lifelong resident of Louisiana, I think you're crazy for going to NO. That place is a cesspool that they should have left underwater where it belongs. However, if you're going to drive there, someone else's POS Dodge would be the right vehicle to take.

Exactly what part of Louisiana are you from that you deem to be so much better than New Orleans?

I buy my vehicles so I can have a dependable,good handling,fast,
comfortable car for trips. The reason I went with the sedan versus the coupe was for the extra luggage space, on my longer trips.
Since I live in Florida and take my trips during the warmer months, I opted for the 2 wheel drive instead of 4 wd.
The only reason I would rent a car would be if I had to make an emergency trip north in the winter. Then I would rent an all wheel drive for the trip.

I bought mine to drive it too, drive it all the time and most everywhere Including 1400 mile round trips to Vegas 4x a year. No need to drive it where you think it may get screwed with though. Sure stupid people are everywhere but IMO if you can avoid places where they may number in the thousands you're probably better off, just sayin.....

So I take it you avoid Maryland at all costs?
