2009 vs 2011 differences

My stealership sent me a letter saying they would like to buy out my 09 G37S 6MT sedan above the market price and 2 years before the lease is up. I can easily hop into a 2011 with no problem and end up saving quite a bit of "cheddar" on the deal. So I have been looking to see what the 2011s are about and trying to make the same comparison with my 2009. So the question(s) I ask:

1) Does the 2011 suspension feel any stiffer or softer than the 2009
2) Are the any new toys new in the 2011
3) Have they made any improvement on the interior?
4) I assume the performance remains the same however, do you think there is a change there.

Since I have told the stealership I am only interested in a 6MT sedan and want like for like options at a lower cost.

Thanks

Performance is the same. Nav screen is a little nicer and the trim pieces are a little nicer. Front fascia is more aggressive. other then that, no diff.

One thing I am confused about is the iPod/iPhone integration. With the 2009 I have to use a Scosche adapter to use it with the system. I hate this process as I have toasted 2 iPhones because of it. I know the 2011 has a USB port and wondering if I can get the same integration as I have now with my 2009. To tell you the truth, I would love to see this work with the 2011s.

Do you know if the Brembos are still on the 6MT or are they Infiniti brakes.

2010+ tech package has rain-sensing wipers, but you lose AFS lighting that is in the 07-09.

Navi screen is better in 2010+, the center console is slightly redesigned as well.

The display is all white, no red. The needles for rpm and speed are white (I think the 09 looks better, the font is italics too).

I think the USB has full ipod integration, someone else can confirm.

All sport models from 09-11 have Akebono brakes , no brembos, so same as the ones you have currently.

I have a 10 and it has the USB connector. As far as I am concerned it is fully integrated. Shows current track and album art, navigates similar to an ipod with steering wheel controls or center stack dial.

I have not tried video or photo playback, so I cannot comment on that. I also have only used it with an ipod nano (lives in the car) and have not tried with my phone.

Interesting.... My stealership told me at the time of when I was getting the G, he told me they work Brembos and i told him they were Akebonos. What a BS'er he was. In Canada there is no tech package per se. It is a Navi package that would include the standard items. So is AFS removed from the 2011s? The 6MT does not have rain-sensing wipers on them so I am wondering. Ugh... You are right the 2009 guages do look better than the 2011s.

The 6MT brochures show that iPod integration is not available on the USB and I did take my iPhone to the dealership to test it out, but unfortunately, he did not have a 6MT sedan available at the time.

The 2011 Ipod connection is fully integrated using your standard Ipod USB adapter. Can't answer anything else I have never owned a G prior to 10 days ago.

Yeah, that's weird. I don't see the option for the High-Tech package for the 6MT on Infiniti Canada website, only navigation is available.

Infiniti Canada - 2012 G Sedan

Seems like the HT package is only for the G37x models.

I went threw same swap out 09 for 11 G37s (except my was an auto). IPod/iPhone integration is near perfect with USB including album art, etc. Bluetooth audio is cool but no album art but is a change from '09. Suspension, brakes (Akebonos) are identical. Nav screen is higher resolution and aesthetic changes as previously mentioned. No Scoshe (I had same problems) needed. Cut my monthly payment by $40/mo on a finance deal with no money out of pocket, etc. (same as when I got my 09). My 09 had 57k miles when I traded it 28 months into my loan.

1) Does the 2011 suspension feel any stiffer or softer than the 2009 - No
2) Are the any new toys new in the 2011 - better Nav screen and Nav update method, body parts (bumper)
3) Have they made any improvement on the interior? - its the same except the USB iPod interface is Iphone 4 compatible with art, and device BT audio streaming
4) I assume the performance remains the same however, do you think there is a change there. - no change

The 2011 gained 86lbs curb weight too.

Use these to compare
2011 Sedan specs
2009 Sedan specs

Last edited by rpm&my_G35; Oct 1, 2011 at 10:28 PM. Reason: interior improvments

One more difference for Canada in 2011 is the DRLs, the full headlight system is on including the back lights vs. the fog lights only in the 09s.

Okay.. So I picked up the 2011 as I couldn't pass up the deal. I am already nitpicking about it. I hate not having the ICC available to me from my 2009 including the AFS eventhough the AFS didn't make much of a difference. The ICC was a nice creature comfort as I am lazy sometimes and it was nice not to be managing the distances between cars sometimes on long trips. The dashboard, well would it kill them to keep some color instead of being monochromed? The Navi seems to be an improvement but it shares the same feeling like the dashboard.

Maybe its just me or the fact the car is new and the ride seems a little more softer and the interior noise seems lower.

It's probably the new tires.

I wouldn't give up AFS though. It's a nice thing to have until you drive a car without it.
