Macs (and others), next time you're on the east, be sure to drive TN 129, Cherohola skyway, and the southern 60 miles or so of BRP (blueridge parkway).
TN129 (the dragon) is very similar to ortega hwy (got to drive that in a rental mitshsh!tbox when we had an assignment in southern CA) - 318 turns in 11 miles with plenty of elevation changes.
