Windshield Issue?!?!

I got my car mid August of last year. I already have 2 nice chips(of course on the drivers side). Now that the weather is getting nice, I was driving the other day when it was bright and sunny, and I noticed a slight crack, a little higher than my usual staright on view. Can only really see it in bright light.

Anyone else have a crap windshield?

I do have full glass coverage but have never used in past. How does it work? Should I call them first? Someone said i should just goto a glass place(safelite, etc.). Does the dealer do windshield replacement? If so, how does it work with insurance?

Thanx in advance!

Call your insurance co. and ask for recommended glass companies. SafeLite, etc arent bad, but sometimes the insurance co (or your agent) knows a better quality place. Might not be as convenient as having SafeLite do it right in your parking lot at work, but if you cherish your car sometimes its worth the extra effort.

And Im not sure its a "crap" windshield, just bad luck. Once you get a chip it can easily turn into a crack just from driving and the car shifting when you go over bumps, potholes, etc. Its possible to fill a chip and prevent it from getting worse, but once it gets worse thats the end of it.

Whenever Ive ended up with a cracked windshield, as long as it doesnt affect my driving visibility I tend to wait until the spring/summer to get it fixed because of all the salt/sand on the road turning into a sandblaster during the winter. But if it affects your view you have no choice.

Mine has 4 chips over the last 2 years. They were fixed and covered by my insurance. It got another one 2 weeks ago but have not got time to get it fixed lol.

I guess it's just bad luck!

Safelite will use OEM upon request. see if your insurance covers that.
