Hail damage

My poor G got caught in a freak Hail storm in Atlanta while I was having dinner . I am so pissed, I wish I did not go out since I have garage parking at home. The next day I noticed that there were literally hundred + small little dents/dinks in all over the top of the car. Not all of them are visible just by casually looking, but you can see them once I move my head slighty back and forth. Does anyone know how this is usually fixed and how much is the cost?

I plan to call my insurance, but just wondering if there are any chance that it will be less than my deductable of 500 (angry too that i did not get a lower comprehensive!!!).

I have an idea. He has tiny dings without scratches all over his car, some are so minor that they're hard to see and no broken windows. You don't need a picture to visualize this damage; by his description, pictures won't capture a lot of the damage.
Sounds like you may looking at a repaint of your hood, trunk and roof at the minimum; there may be too many dings and or some that are not accessible for paint-less dent removal, not to mention the cost of removing so many of them. Sorry to hear it, bummer.

Hey, post up some pics so we can see the damage you're talking about.

Despite what others may think, a picture is worth a thousand words and we'd be more likely to offer sound advice instead of blindly trying to help you out.

The G has incredibly soft body panels. My buddy's 2009 G37xS was damaged quite badly in a hail 2 years ago while my 2004 Mazda 3 suffered NO damage at all. He had to go through insurance.

yea, go through insurance, my parents venza got hit, and the quote is $10K CDN, and that's with a panoramic sunroof, which suffered no damage what so ever.

I wonder if the G has thinner sheet metal than other cars. Back in the day, I know a lot of the American cars had some pretty decently thick sheet metal that could withstand an average hail storm without getting all dented. These days, the sheet metal on our cars is definitely thinner, but is it super thin on the G? Does anyone know?

Yes, do file a claim with insurance and be prepared to pay the $500 deductible. Infiniti does uses aluminum hoods to cut weight, but it sounds like the OP got hit hard enough that the steel roof suffered tiny divots.

It will be quite a bit more than your $500 deductible. It should be able to be PDR'd, requiring no polyester filler or paint. If it does need "conventional" body repair, have the collision shop get ALL the PDR work done first and only conventionally repair the few remaining, unaccessible dings.

Sorry to hear about ur G.. I was very lucky because hail storm didn't go thru my area, north of Atlanta. I have a garage but have too much crap in there so I always park in the drive way...

That may be, but I remember a buddy's Dad's late 70s-early 80s Caddy Fleetwood that was all dinged up from a hailstorm. Looked like someone took a ball peen hammer to it. May have been an above average storm, but marble sized is the biggest I can recall ever seeing here in Va.

He was an ornery old millionaire who bought cars new and drove them until they were falling apart. He never fixed the Caddy, pocketed the insurance and kept on driving it with the dings.
