I've had my 9500 windshield mounted low for about two weeks before I hardwired and installed my rearview mount. I didn't notice any dramatic differences across any bands. I had plenty of warning for Ka band in both locations. IMO the cleanest look is with the mirror mount. Only issue I ran into was a false laser reading when I first mirror mounted it. It scared me pretty good one time before I moved the mount forward, haven't had an issue since.

I've had my 2010 G37 for 4 years. The first thing I did was hard wire my passport with a stealth cord. A few months ago I bought a new SRX and had my other passport hardwired in it. I didn't use a stealth cord because I don't think they are still in business.
After the radar detector broke loose, from the windshield of the SRX, the second time I ordered a blendmount to mount it under the mirror.
It worked so well and looked so clean that I ordered another blendmount for the G37.
I don't know why I didn't get a blendmount when I first bought the G37.
The neat thing about the blendmount is you can use it on the next vehicle when you trade cars.

Guys I'm going to have to say that it doesn't matter. I live in Austin and get blasted daily...I had it down low for awhile and then hardwired it with the smartCord - just above the rear view mirror...and even behind the upper tint...and I still get the same signals as before. No problems.

Just tap into the fuse box...I ran the silencer button under the steering whee, out the slot in the center, and over - under the "START/STOP" button, with velcro.

I'll take pictures...it's super clean and works well.
