A big factor for me was the interior room in the back when ruling out the BMW. If you are getting a sedan, you are going to use the backseat and the 3 series has very little leg room. The G feels more comfortable in the back with acceptable amount of space. The A4 that we also considered is wider and has slightly less leg room, but the back seats are so low that you feel like you are squatting when sitting in the back.

I came to the G37X from a BMW330i, which I had for 10 years with no major repairs or problems. I went right to the BMW dealer when I started shopping for a new car, and I was really disappointed by a few things:

1. While subjective, the 328i feels underpowered and not fun to drive. BMW and (IMO) Mercedes are trying to make budget versions of their "real" cars and in doing so I think they are diluting the brand. The 335i is a real joy, but is $50k with any meaningful options.

2. I'm a little old school, and didn't like a few "modernizations" on the BMWs, such as: no oil dipstick, no spare tire (run flats....grr...), and iDrive.

3. This might be a nit for some, but it is a dealbreaker for me (maybe they changed it in the 2011s???) the amber radio display disappears if you are wearing polarized sunglasses. It's been that way for a while... both my sister's "old" 5-series and her current 328ix have this problem.

4. The back seat on the BMWs was really tight. We live about 160 miles from Ocean City,MD, and I would sometimes take my car down, and having more than 1 passenger meant someone had a pretty uncomfortable 2.5 hours. It hasn't really changed in the new BMWs.... everyone liked my BMW until they had to ride in the back seat, and then it was "maybe we'll hitch a ride with someone else...". No such problems in the G37.

Test drove the Mercedes C300. It is a beautiful car, and the interior was the best of the three. However, the car was just not fun to drive, and hugely underpowered. Going up a hill on the way back to the dealership I was slowing down and push down on the gas, the car downshifted, the RPMs shot up, and I wasn't going any faster. I actually said to the salesguy "the car sure seems to be doing something, I just wish it was moving me forward."

Anyway, my 2 cents. Have had the G37x for 3 weeks and no problems.

Again, U dont need to change UR oil every 3750. 5000 or 7500 is fine accordng to manual; Their corp fleet uses 7500. I looked @ BMW alsocause I like the looks better BUT, I had an 01 BMW X5 & the maint every yr was killing me; the 335is is only a lil faster but U have to worry about Turbo maint & eng overheat issues (oil cooler was added later to fix this problem). the G37S is much better VALUE & much more reliable; look at consumer rpts for reliability.

I think some may be over exagerating the prices of Oil changes. I did my 6,000km service at the dealer for around $70.00 including taxes.........
