Infiniti G25 First Impressions...
I don't understand corporate Nissan/Infiniti's rationale for not making Navi and Lux pkgs available on the G25, but it is a sweet car. Looks gorgeous, has a terrific interior and superior handling and braking.
Test drove one last week, and overall I was quite underwhelmed. Maybe cuz I went from my G37, but the engine felt as weak as my wife's current 2.5L Altima. The lack of options is what the deal breaker is going to be for my wife. She's always liked my car, but doesn't need the 330hp and wants AWD w/o having to pay over $35k.
We thought this would be a good alternative, but at $35k sticker with just moonroof and no available nav its a bit overpriced for what you get. Its unfair to the customer not to offer a high volume option such as nav, when I can get it on an Altima or even a Honda Civic. Poor marketing by Infiniti.

The owner's manual I received with my g25 is actually for the g37, so it lists premium. The compression ratio is a little lower than the g37 at 10.3, so a midgrade might run okay, but I haven't tried yet.

the price conscious doesn't care about navigation. Plus having navigation as a dealer installed option we're installing them left and right for clients who want a touch screen nav system and works fine
The nav system to me was an overpriced option easily replaced with a $200 Garmin GPS... they probably thought the more budget-conscious G25 drivers won't want it enough to warrant whatever production changes they might need to do (if any?).
While Infiniti's goal with this car is to try keep the G25 as basic as possible, it could do better if it included not only the Premium package but also included the Navigation package. These are just some of the items that many buyers actually want on their cars. I mean even when you compare the BMW 328 to the G25 these options are made available. To make this car more competitive in the market and while I know this is the first year or test year, the options should be made available either as a package or a separate add on.
A $35,000 car is not a "price-conscious" choice of vehicle. A Nissan Versa without A/C is a budget car. Why is there navigation availabe in all kinds of vehicles yet a "premium" brand doesn't offer it just because the engine is smaller? Thats just plain retarded.
Audi downgraded the A4's engine to the point where a V-6 isn't available, yet they still offer every list of options as before. (yes I know the S4 has a V-6 before I get flamed).
Some people don't like having to squint at a 3.5 inch screen when an available 7 inch screen is an option. Stupid is as stupid does.

It's not going to suite everyone's needs but again it's there to reach out to a different market.
I just seen 3 or 4 clients this weekend take the G25x over the Nissan Altima because of the all wheel drive option, the lease payment was only $18 dollars more per month, and they felt the fit and finish was 10x better.
you can go back and forth all day. I'm a performance guy, I won't bother to look at the G37x... even if gas was $5.00 a gallon, I'd just drive my G37 slower.
Just saw 1 for the 1st time today... A chick was driving it, she was about 24-27yrs old, and that's what I see this version of the G geared towards..1st time entry level lux buyers, and or women who don't want or need the extra power of the G37.. Just my opinion.
The G25 and it's available features are very competitive in it's price range for an entry level luxury car. Sure, Audi and BMW have navigation available on their low end cars but how much is that going to cost you? Let's face it most of the Audis and BMWs out there are leased lower end models with only one or two option packages (BMW in particular) and most do not have navi.
