Infiniti G25 First Impressions...
The BMW 530i I sold when I acquired the G was an 03 model with 73,000 miles. Had all the service records.....previous owner had followed BMW's oil change recommendations religiously; all service performed at the dealership. Oil usage had dramatically increased over the last 12 months, using 1 quart to every 1,000 miles. Check Bimmerfest....common problem.
This has been brought up before, but it would be nice if Infiniti made some higher level options available on the G (like premium leather). To me, just part of being an all around luxury brand making them more competitive.
Per the maintenance schedule, it is nice when leasing, but you have to listen to what the car says it needs and nothing else. If I was buying, I would definitely be spending on maintenance.
Here's an impression on popularity... After having 2 of these models in stock, 1 of which is on the showroom floor after a busy weekend. We still have both models and have sold a number of G37's instead.
Interesting. Is it because of the lack of options on the G25 or the want/need for the extra power? Were people even interested in the G25?
25 vs 37
Interesting indeed, I guess time will tell. I would thoroughly enjoy hearing for myself the exhaust note on the 25 which people claim is identical to the 37. That I think would be some trick.
BMW's Ultimate Service is great as long as you think an oil change every 15,000 to 17,000 miles is adequate. If you're leasing......who cares. If you plan to keep your BMW, I would think you would want to pony up for more frequent oil changes, making the "free service" less than free. Probably cheaper than Infiniti, but certainly not free.

I don't know why some people think changing engine oil more often is better for the car. Do people really think that the engineers that work for these companies just pull numbers out of their ***?

Infiniti's marketing is to lure people from non-Infiniti's that just want to venture into a luxury vehicle at a low-mid 30k price range.
we sold over 10 G25's already... price is a big factor. To someone coming from a base Audi A4 or BMW 328xi there are options that they couldn't even get on those comparable base model vehicles.

youngest is 24 female, oldest is male 69
but it's still lots of value in the vehicle that drives the G25, G37 is still performance oriented.
the G25 is interesting... the engine doesn't seem like it's worth it, but if it can average 25-26. that's gonna be key. If it can do intown driving and average 20, that's key.
I mean the G25 is going to do well. I didn't think they would've given it the options, but I forgot all of those are standard now. price is a huge factor cause it's not only the purchase but the cost of ownership. If you can have the same car body/options (w/o engine) and pay 500 less a year on fuel... that's big deal.
but remember the average person buys a G37 because of performance it's one of those midlife crisis cars for people over 40 and a modders dream for people ages 20-30. So I would imagine like da mayor said the g37 will still outsell the G25s... until more information of the G25 comes out. the G25 is still kind of a secret. I haven't even seen too many reviews from the automags. but yeah at 30k. now you can potentially take away sales from like the acura TSX and a couple other cars... probably not tho cause those cars are packed with technology.
what I'm actually wondering they'd consider doing a turbo variant of the VQ2.5 DI engine. It couldn't be in it's current form... I'm pretty sure they can get like 350HP out of it if they did... just a couple tweaks to the engine... to make it more durable under stress...

The G25 engine is also in the middle of the pack. It is a little more powerful than the IS250 and TSX, but underpowered compared to the 328i and A4. The hp/torque numbers don't mean much, though because the weight, transmission and gearing ratios have a heavy influence on the performance.
By the numbers, Infiniti has the G25 right in the middle, stacking up pretty well with the competition.
