Unhappy What a way to start the week....

Heard my door bell ringing this morning. Looked out the window and.....nuts. Only 3.5 months old and someone backed right into the rear bumper while backing out. Saw that "I'm sorry" look on their faces while they stood at my door so in some respect I'm glad they informed me and they were ok. Looks like it's just the bumper but we'll see. Got an appointment with the appraiser tomorrow. We'll see what else they find. Sorry for the low res pics.

Sucks hard man, but glad to hear the guilty party stepped up and took responsibility. Looks pretty superficial, should have you fixed up in no time.

It pains me to see a wounded Blue Slate!

while it pains me to see this happen and it makes me cringe when people do something stupid like backing into another car...

they redeem a lot of that by having the honesty and integrity to come and tell you about it. that says a lot about a person and from the pics it doesn't look TOO bad.

hopefully it gets fixed soon!!

personal note- my mom's acura got hit from behind while pulling out of our local mall's parking lot. the guy didnt stop.. another driver saw this and followed the guy till he came to a stop and got all the necessary information from the guy and gave it to my mom. we live in somerset county too. some people here arent very noble, while others are heroic.

good thing they were good people and decided to not be douchebags. and how the heck did that even happen? judging by the first pic it seems like the side of his car somehow hit your rear??

The driver was backing out from the spot directly behind me +1 to the right. In a distracted moment, they hit the gas instead of the brake and introduced their right side rear bumper and door to the back of mine. The bumper is cut in some areas and the license plate light holder is loose and the lights are dead. The trunk opens/closes without issues and the parking sensors seems to work (I had to pop the driver's side one back in). The tailpipe feels solid and the car felt ok driving it around (no drifting/vibrating) so hopefully it's just a bumper swap. Funny thing is i got a minor scratch on the bumper last weekend (damn soft paint) and I didn't have any luck with any rubbing compounds. Guess I don't have to worry about that anymore.

In that case, he did you a favor then. But seriously, what happened really sucks, but doesn't seem too bad all things considered. And at least they stuck around after hitting you, no everyone does.

at least he had the integrity to find you, and then inform you of the damage as apposed to just leaving! there's always and up to a down

That sucks when it happens for both parties. Glad the other guy stepped forward, +1 for that.

Got an estimate. $815 for new OEM bumper + 3 days at the shop. Not bad. Hopefully no surprises once they remove the bumper.

Accidents happen. Thank them for their honesty/integrity...there are many people in this world that would drive away without a second thought. It's easier to be dishonest, and there are a whole bunch of really lazy people out there...

just found a huge scrape mark on the front of my bumper 2010 g37xS at the mall. Of course whoever did it took off without leaving a note or anything. I wish they would just even say "i'm an idiot and i back into your car, and took off because i didn't want to pay". I'm going to take it to Infiniti just to get an estimate on getting it repaired...either finishing the whole bumper or a spot repair. Has anyone here done a spot repair, i'm just a little worried about the blend and how it would look?
