Hmmm, still struggling to see this HORRIBLE orange peel everybody is ranting about. You'd think the trunk was in a different color or something. Looks good to me and congrats on a beautiful ride dude!!

1. No sealant will result in the appearance of orange peel on a car. If it does, something is wrong.

2. If that trunk wasn't repainted, you have a horrible HORRIBLE factory finish on that panel. The rest of your car looks within limits from the photos you posted.

3. It's common for cars to get minor damage in transit and be repaired at port. When this happens, it can/will be sold as new without any note of the damage. There's nothing wrong with this, unless it was done incorrectly.

4. Read the paperwork that came with the sealant package, and you will see that your end of the deal is bringing the car in at least annually for the sealant to be reapplied. If not, your sealant is definitely an outlier, as I've never known a sealant to last more than a year in the best conditions.

I'm not trying to rain on your parade, but rather trying to help others that are on the fence with spending the money on "protection packages". They are nothing you can't do on your own (and better) with a can of scotchgard and a bottle of any synthetic sealant. You have a beautiful car, and I know you'll enjoy it. I was only trying to arm you with information in case you choose to do something about what appears to be a bad repaint in your photos. My apologies if my tone sounded any other way.

Here is a zoomed photo of my trunklid for reference. This was after a rain today, so any "noise" is dried rainwater and trace dirt. You would very clearly see massive orange peel at this scale if it were common to our cars. Good luck!

So many things that made me laugh. First off, you're making an assumption on the biggest point of the argument. You haven't seen this car in person, and seem to have no knowledge or experience with this protection package. Also, the only picture that was that close up was the trunk, he said the whole car looks the same way, not to mention he doesn't even care he got "ripped off" because he wants the warranty for the interior which is a very valid point.

Would it have been hard to swallow a bit of pride and just say, "congrats on the new car"? Polite or helpful? seemed pretty sarcastic at points. Now the poor guy had his new car post ruined.

Could the "horrible orange peel" be a result of the brick building in the reflection? Not seeing what others are talking about honestly. Of course it doesn't help I'm color deficient.

Very sweet ride OP.

Nice way to start a conversation with someone.

I have experience with at least 5 of these "protection packages", and they are virtually the same. In summary, they offer five-year sealants that actually require at least annual reapplication by the dealer, and interior protection that includes a can of scotchgard or equiv. on carpeted surfaces (read: the floormats and carpets). I was offering real-world advice for people considering buying this package in order to (hopefully) save others from getting fleeced by the F&I guy after negotiating a deal on their car.

Also, the only picture that was that close up was the trunk, he said the whole car looks the same way, not to mention he doesn't even care he got "ripped off" because he wants the warranty for the interior which is a very valid point.
If the whole car looks that way, that's an even bigger issue that he needs to address with the dealer. If he wants the warranty for the interior, that's fine, but it's still not a good idea for 99% of the population to buy these pure profit dealer add-ons. Unless you work for a dealer, I'm not sure why that's so hard for you to understand.

Would it have been hard to swallow a bit of pride and just say, "congrats on the new car"? Polite or helpful? seemed pretty sarcastic at points. Now the poor guy had his new car post ruined.
Swallow my pride? I would actually appreciate someone giving me information that could be pointing out issues that need to be addressed. The OP could likely get a prorated refund on that protection package, and can likely get the trunk looked at. I'm not sure how you could read sarcasm into all of that, and to be honest, I don't really care.

Let's be honest here: If the OP hadn't flipped out with rather rude responses to me and everyone else trying to help, this thread would have been over at least two pages ago. As for "new car post ruined", give me a break. Let's all smile like Prozac-swallowing drones instead of actually trying to help each other! Now that was sarcasm for you.
