This is more just to vent becasue I know how much you all will understand and also appreciate that you don't live in PA! My office sits across from a school zone, thus they are cops in our parking lot watching for speeders. I pull into our office from the back so I am driving in private property to get to work. I park my G and a biker cop speeds through the parking lot to stop me from walking into work and breaks out the tint meter. Get this, I have 48% tint on my sides and he told me I have to take it all off in 10 days or he will fine me $100 per window. I am so pissed! Now he watches me and waits for me to get to work. I think he is going a bit extreme!

 

That sucks! Sorry man. 48% isn't even that dark, but if it is against the law, it's against the law.

Wow, 48% is over the limit in PA? That seems pretty strict. Here in MD the courts recently rules that a cop cannot pull you over just on the basis of dark tints (it's 35% all around here). Of course, we all know those kinds of laws mean very little out in the real world -- I'm sure it still happens, just that's not the official line for their report.

But I used to live in PA. You guys have inspections there -- do they check your tint levels on that? Or do you have a friendly mechanic who lets it slide?

Stock is 74% so basically you can make it 4% darker... That sucks. Here in Montreal limit is also 70 but I've been running 35% for nearly 5 years now with no problems.

Heh, here in Illinois they just changed the law... you can have no darker than 35% all around. But there are still cops writing people tickets because they know most people aren't aware of the changes.

 

That's a cop with way too much time on his hands, but it's the law, nothing you can do about it.

In NY its 70 as well. really sucks. But atleast he got away with a warning. In NY they woulda just slapped him with a ticket and called it a day

they gotta meet quotas somehow

 

In NY they regualry give more than 1 ticket per stop. I have heard that people get 4 tickets (1 per window). Rear is allowed.
