Looking at the forums and other areas of that site, the author seems a bit unstable, to be honest, in the tin-foil-hat sort of way. Par for the course on the Internet.

I would agree with you on the author, the one local tint shop is actually passing out a document trying to "sell" the legallity of the tint. They refernece statute §4524. Windshield obstructions and wipers. This does not appear to reference Table X, so I am still looking into if that was passed after the ones you mentioned were ammended.

i live on long island and i got 20% on the front windows and 5% around the back (diamond graphite with black leather)..iv never had a problem with cops bothering me about the tints..and idc i got my car tinted 3 days after i had it...cant stand the sun beaming into my car..and theres nothing like a little privacy..and in my opinion girls shouldnt have any issues with tints..a few friends of mine that are very attractive have been harrassed by a**holes at redlights so i told her to get tints..much safer to..at night people wont see a girl all alone driving somewhere

At the end of the day if you give a cop a reason to stop you (speeding, or any moving violation) and you have your windows tinted or anything else illegal done to the car you run the risk of getting several tickets. With that said get a passport 9500ix radar or v1, a laser jammer, and custom installed pb radio ( like me ) then tint your windows and enjoy!

The last post was meant to be silly, but it got me thinking. If the cop is sitting outside of a school he is probably running radar to catch speeders by the school. If this is true, you can buy a valentine 1 radar which will tell you where a cop is running radar and if it is from the front you can either put your windows down or even go a different way to work. This gives you at least a heads up. Also, it seems sort of peculiar that this cop is spending so much time on you, was there any exchange of words between you two? If so, this cop probably won't stop until you get the windows un-tinted and I hate to say it no matter what he will be right to make sure this gets done even if his methods are unjust.

Thumbs down

That's exactly why I'm listening to this club for feedback on tint. I live about 20 miles west of Philly and the cops bust tinted cars a lot. I just bought an platinum '08 S that would look great with tint but I'm waiting. I'm sorry that you gigged.

In NJ... You are allowed to have Rear Window and Rear Side windows tinted only.
I don't think they have limits stated in terms of % of light...?

you're also in CO, where the cops dont give a **** about anything but speeding. You can get away with anything there, especially in Littleton

speaking of, where in Littleton do you live? I used to live in Highlands Ranch before college and the AF

Then again there’s the old story of the optimist who fell off the top of the Empire State Building. On the way down people on each floor could hear him say, “So far so good.”

This is funny. In NW Indiana most of the cars with really dark tint are unmarked police cars. It is one of the ways I have learned to spot them on the highway.

Tinting Windshield

My tinter in California told me that illegal tint (other than clear) on the front side windows is a fix-it ticket. While tint on the windshield is a moving violation. Gulp. That's enough reason for me to not have a tinted windshield. I'll risk running 35% on my side windows, but I won't risk having points added to my license for windshield tint.

bro ive had 5 % on every car that ive ever had.. I got the 5% put on this one like the 2nd day i had it.... Certain small rural cops might bust ur *****.. But i live in miami ... THE COPS HAVE 5% DOWN HERE.... You can also try going to an eye doctor and telling him that ur eyes are very sensitive to sun light.. he will write u a prescription/note to show to a cop and u shouldnt have a problem.. Thats the only LEGAL way to roll around with mirror tint or 5%
