Right now, I'm doomed to getting out of Richmond via toll road when I leave work, for at least a couple of weeks. They found a bad bridge beam on I-95 north, and the downtown I-95N corridor is pretty much a 24-7 mess while they have a lane shut down to work on it. So up 195 I go at $.70 a whack.
That sucks. No annual fee in Illinois and Indiana. They make their money from banking all that money until it is spent.

Are there actually people who have this instead of the standard USB port on my 2011 G37x? I can connect my phone via that USB connection or Bluetooth. Mostly I just use an 8Gb mp3 player with a large chunk of my music collection on it. I've never had a disk in the CD player.
On the '09s it is an Ipod cable and a Compact Flash slot, there is no USB port.

This is one of the best threads for newbies about the G. Answered bunch of questions I had about the car. I also found 90% of issues and concerns to reflect those of mine.

The headlight switch design is poor. If I want to turn my parking lights on in the garage, going past auto starts the hid. I should be able to go straight to the parking lights without firing up the ol' hids.

^ When you say "parking lights", which ones do you mean?

'Parking lights' (front park, side marker, tail, license plate) are the first position past 'Auto'.

OP - have you tried changing the auto head light sensitivity to the lowest setting so they might not come on when you pass 'Auto' on the stock?

I have driven my G37 for a month now. Had a 2010 Maxima. I hate to say this, but I liked the Max better.
Maxima is roomier, comes with more options (Heated steering wheel, cool seat, hot aux plug when car is off, RCA inputs, Reverse tilt down side mirrors, bigger trunk, bigger glove box.)

The center console is awful. Every time I take an exit or hard turn the cup in the cup holder tips over sideways and spills everywhere.
The Sat./FM AM button all in one. Drives me crazy. Sat. button should be by itself, again the Maxima is like that. One button for Sat. Radio and One button for FM/AM.

The G handles a lot better that's about it.
You would think the G would come better equipped.

If you took the Maxima body and placed it on the G37X drive train I think you would have an almost perfect car.
If i had to do it all over again I would of waited for a re design on the Maxima's and bought a new one instead of the G37..

G37xS (Limited) Loaded= $46,245
Maxima Loaded with more options= $40,000

I guess like the saying goes, "your paying for the NAME"

Well if you consider the 3.7 engine, attesa-esa AWD drivetrain, those are two huge options not available on the max. I would take both over a heated steering wheel in a heartbeat.

For the extra $6K you get a sports sedan vs a family sedan. Two different animals fulfilling two different missions. You are paying for the name; no matter what vehicle you buy you pay for name.

How could you buy a car you didn't end up liking?

You didn't read my whole posting.....A lot more then just a heated steering wheel.
I bought the car at first because I did like driving and i do love driving it.
For so much more money I really don't thinks its worth it.

Like i said add the Maxima to the drive train of the G and a perfect car you would have

I read your whole and I agree the cup holders stink. Other than that you're entitled to your opinion and I certainly respect that.

However, what I attempted to suggest was the G is intended to be a beast of entry level luxury sports sedan, similiar in scope to it's competitors; BMW, Acura, Lexus etc., all with some sort of compromise. You pick what matters and disregard the issues that don't.

The M37 is a bigger car, but is not as dynamic as the G because of it's size. I think the M is car you want. But it's another $7K above the G.

But you still didn't answer the question, why did you get the G in the first place?

Well the 2 most important things for me are how a car drives and how it looks and in those respects the Maxima is not even in the same ballpark as the G and the G is easily worth the premium you're paying. The G looks like a luxery sport sedan, the Maxima doesn't although the body shape is a improvement over the the god awful look of the last gen Max.

The G can be comparable to a 3 series in driving dynamics while the Maxima is comparable to an Altima or an Accord. Big difference if you enjoy driving. The G may have some transmission quirks but I will still take it over that sleep inducing CVT transmission, IMO the stupidest innovation in the last decade. I drove my buddies Max once and the CVT put me to sleep, it kills all connection to the road and being that the Maxima has 2 strikes against it already with FWD and numb steering then it almost becomes your Dad's old Buick in new sheetmetal. Comfortable and lifeless. I never thought a 290HP car could be so boring but then the G may have spoiled me.

The G has plenty of trunk space for me. If I needed more storage I would have gotten a SUV and the back seat? Who the hell cares, I'm not sitting back there and it's not like the back seat can only fit small kids, it's more than accomodating for 2 adults. If an adult doesn't have that extra 3 inches of legroom? well tough ****.

A G is for people who like to drive. The Maxima is a good car for people who have to drive. I'll pay the extra on top for that anytime and you get 4WD as a bonus.

Notwithstanding my perpetual gripe about the performance of the 7AT in my 10 G37X on this forum, I do agree with pauljr to an extent. IMO, I think the new Maxima is very dynamic in it's looks (the interior is very, very similar to the G), - put the rear wheel biased drivetrain, with AWD, and the 3.7 engine in the Maxima - I would have bought that instead. It does offer much more room, Nissan for whatever reason included more "stuff" in the Maxima... Of course, the Maxima is unlikely to match the handling of the G. And the Maxima comes with a CVT tranny??? right? I have a CVT in our 2010 Subaru Legacy. It takes getting used to, but at the end of the day: it grows on you for overall response, good enough pep IMO, and serves the purpose of that car very well. For the Mxima with a V-6, if it does come with a CVT, I wouldn't like that.

^^^Infiniti already did this, it's called the M line. They are not going to redo it, imo.

1) Wonky 7AT (Simple fix...offer the 6MT on the X models and let me do the shifting)
2) Auto door locks (My 25K 06 Mazda had that feature...)

Well okay, #1 probably wouldn't be an "simple fix" but having the option would be nice.
