Need Opinions...
Hey guys,
I'm a new member here, I currently have a BMW 335i Coupe but I now need something bigger with 4 doors. I can't REALLY afford a new 335i sedan (and if I could it'd be the new S4 instead). Anyway I'm seriously considering the G37 sedan, I like the "S" with the 6mt a lot. My dealer doesn't have any new manuals in so I drove a used 07 G35 sedan and was surprised how much I liked it coming from a BMW. I'm really thinking of snatching up an 09 for a really good deal, but all they have is automatics. How much better is the G37 then the G35? Should I just have them bring one in if possible? Am I insane for wanting to trade my car in? I'm just so on the fence. I also like the IS350. I've put out anything german because i'd have to get the base engine to be able to afford new. Any opinions you guys have would be great, thanks.

If it means anything to you, Im also leaving my 335 for the g37. However, Im leaving mine because my lease is up and instead of the manual(which I hated in the G), Im opting for the paddle shifted S model.
I think you need to drive whatever models you might be interested in. You cant get an idea of how a car is by comments from posters on the forum. You gotta plant your butt in the seat itself.

I just traded in my '06 M3 (6sp) for a G37xS two weeks ago. I test drove an '09 G 6mt prior to getting the sedan since I wanted to stick with a manual if at all possible. The short throw shifter on the G is nice, but the clutch is horrible, at least compared to the BMW's clutch. Perhaps the clutch on the sedan is different than the coupe's. If the dealer has one, try driving an AT sedan w/ the sport package and tool around with the paddle shifters to see if you like it. I must say, I was very surprised w/ how well the RWD of the AWD Sport compares to the RWD of the 3 series coupe (owned a 325ci as well). I also considered the IS350, but having owned a Lexus prior to the M3, I will never buy another Lexus...Toyota's quality is getting worse and worse. Good luck w/ the Infiniti!
I had to drive from NJ to DC to get my 6MT G after I located several of them in 2-3 DC dealers. The dealers around here weren't too fond of offering me the option of locating a manual for me. Understandable, as clearing their lot is more of a priority for them.
Depending on where you are, try looking further south. A road trip may be in order :P.
Keep in mind that the G's stock clutch feel is crap. I don't know who tested that thing and signed it off as acceptable but it's anything but.
It took the removal of the dumper spring(30 seconds with basic tools) to get it to be "normal". All I'm saying is that if you get to drive the manual don't get discouraged by the clutch 'feel'.
There is a fix :P

07 and 09 drive very similar. If you liked one, there is a good chane you will like the other. What you will miss is the low end torque of the bmw TT motor.
Make sure you drive a 6mt car before you commit. Performance is a similar, but they drive very different from the autos.

Call these folks and see if they can help you. They had a large inventory when I bought my G37S earlier this month.

Can you elaborate on this? Is there a DIY? Sounds like the CDV mod done on the BMW's.
