Spoiler/kickplate question
Spoiler/kickplate question
I just ordered a 2010 G37Xs red with stone interior.
Question regarding peoples opinions...
The car the dealership was able to find doesnt have a spoiler or the lighted kickplates.
My question is what do most people think, is the spoiler look good? To put a spoiler on the in the dealership, will it screw up my car?
Does anyone think the lighted kickplates are worth it? I think they look real cool, but will the dealer have to destroy my car to get the electrical to the kickplates?

spoiler - worth it
kickplates, meh. I just got a G37 with illuminated kickplates, they are nice but I didn't really need them, the dealer could only find the car I wanted with the illuminated kickplates so I took it.

just a quick question, why do you think the spoiler is worth it?
did you tint your windows? I like a tint to the windows, and I dont think the infiniti window tint is good enough, what are your thoughts?

1) personally not too much of a fan of the spoiler. it doesnt look right in my eyes. u can get an after market lip that looks better. But if you do get it, installing it is a piece of cake....and if the dealership does screw it up, they will fix it. I think the whole job should be about $800 for part and install
2) illuminated kickplates is honestly a waste. u barely see it.....no one really notices. I have it on my car and i forget most of the time. But again, installation is easy, it wont ruin ur car

My thoughts are, you should try the search feature of this forum for answers to your questions without having to wait for replies! Congrats on your new car and yes to the spoiler and the window tints, GL...More on the sploiler, it runs about 500.00 dealer installed and is worth it, only if to cover that chrome finisher, otherwise you'll have to paint it body color or black it out to look good IMO...

rear decklid spoiler looks sooo much better than the little chrome one.
I didnt tint my windows yet but I've only had my car for 3 days
I have a Journey Model ... I added:
Spoiler
Kick plates
Ambient light kit
Are they worth the money Infiniti charges? No .... Do I like them all and glad I spent the money ...heck yes! If you are not comfortable drilling into your brand new car, have the dealer do the spoiler. At least if they F it up, they have to buy a new trunk lid. I think the spoiler adds a lot to the car.
I also had tint done, looks much better. I didn't want the police hassle so I went with 40% Carbon. With the dark interior (black) and dark car color (Blue Slate) the tint looks darker than 40%

Yes you can add them yourself, the kick plates I would recommend doing yourself. It's not hard or complicated install. I did and it was no big deal. Now the spoiler requires drilling several holes in your trunk lid. All but two of them are in the location where the chrome piece was. The other two which are 19mm holes (large) go right out from the chrome piece about 6". You mess it up and you have messed up your trunk lid. I did the spoiler install myself but I am meticulious and handly with tools, etc. I just did it on a '08 G, if it were brand spanking new ....I would have the dealer do it.
Ambient light kit and replacement LED's are easy to do.

The spoiler is absolutely worth it. The kickplates are whatever. I've got em but they aren't a make or brake kind of thing.
That being said the dealer can install both but if you get the kick plates i would just DIY b/c the dealer will overcharge like crazy to install them.

I bought the spoiler for my '08 coupe and had it installed at the dealer for about $625 total.
I think the couple definitely needs the spoiler and I like Infiniti's. I could go either way with the sedan.
My car came with the lighted kick-plates or I probably wouldn't have gotten them. I don't think they're worth it at all.
